Oh Oh! A karoake night here? I thought that would be Monday night. Great like New Year's Eve it is being held upstairs in the party section not downstairs in the bar so I won't be tangled around speakers and wires. The sound of the hockey game on the television and the canned music being pumped in from the sound system was distraction enough.
Tonight I'm playing with Kevin JAGUAR and Nick IAMINU after squeezing forward to the bar during the 8:30pm game and asking for a second Playmaker. They're having a lot of trouble with their boards. We started with the minimum of five as another couple behind us were working the RUTJAS board. Kevin was hit with a non-working board during OnBeat and had to transfer his points during that round so only hit 1 of 8. Then it was time for the couple to have a dead board and they just left. Nick was talking with a new female friend so Kevin would often have to reach over to answer on his board. I had my usual two boards which is all I'm comfortable with. Only I had a good score going into Encore. I had to convinced Kevin to stay for the final Encore as I might need his help.

OnBeat...ROCKET...11500/14000...1st/5...my two boards win round. ...........LITBOX...11500/14000...1st/5...7 right, 2 wrong with a few guesses that I was right and one clanger that I should have read all the answers before answering. JukeBox...ROCKET...15951/20000...1st/5...JAGUAR wins round. .........LITBOX...15945/20000...2nd/5. Triviaoke...ROCKET...20142/28000...1st/4...JAGUAR wins round. .........LITBOX...20130/28000...2nd/4. Two -250s in this round and Kevin saves me for a +500 instead of -250 for a 2Pac lyric. I couldn't imagine a rapper using the word 'rockin' in a song. I get 1000 points on the last song to make my modest goal of reaching 20000 before the Encore round.
In the break between Triviaoke and Encore I'm talking with Kevin about the Wilson brothers in The Beach Boys not being related to the Wilson sisters of Heart at least I've never heard the connection.
So the answers come up and it doesn't take me by surprise at all as they did this last year around St Patrick's Day. Right from tonight's first TuneUp question about Irish artists I expected something like this. On television, Belfast born Owen Nolan had scored the only goal in the Toronto Maple Leafs victory over Vancouver. Well since they got the Van Morrison question out of the way, I should know everything about these groups.

Hey I know this before the answers even come back up! I 'bought-back' this CD after I'd bought their second album. Three sisters and a brother. (Later I realized I could have linked the sister, brother, brother, twin uncles and sister--former member--Enya for Clannad).

I'm right and win with 30213 and 30195. I earn 3000+ Players Plus points for meeting this week's standard of 19000. I finish 534th and 540th but just missed the Network Top 20 by 1000. That made me feel really regret not reading the answers for Harvey Fierstein (and his onstage Grammy banter with Rod Stewart and Robin Williams) in OnBeat which would have turned my score for 1500 or even TuneUp when I didn't think 'Roxanne' ever made the Top 50 and that would have added 750. However take away some guesses that I didn't deserve to get right and I could have done worse. The bar finishes 227th which wasn't bad for only four players with wonky boards. [The NTN.com site upgrades us to 35th with a 20494 average later in the week.]
