Encore Question of December 28th, 2002.
Played at The Frog & Firkin in North York Ontario.
Answers:
Tonight we've formed a super team with me as ROCKET, Richard BERGIE, Kimmo KAV joining my other friends Rob COSMO and Sean METLCA/F_CUJO (last name as an insult to the former Maple Leafs goalie). Now the only problem was we weren't playing well. Too many cooks? Well from the final scores it looked like all bars had a problem but I didn't notice that at the time. It took me to the last Triviaoke question to scrape up 20000 points.
Here's how my game had gone so far: TuneUp...4000/5000...1st/9...ROCKET, COSMO, KAV, BERGIE, and BIF win round. OnBeat...11000/14000...1st/9...ROCKET, KAV and COSMO win round. 7 right and 2 wrong is better than I thought when I was playing but included one lucky guess. I had picked up two of the album question asked at a Boxing Day sale. JukeBox...16143/20000...2nd/9...BERGIE wins round. COSMO is in lead with 16227. Triviaoke...20105/28000...2nd/9...KAV wins round and holds lead with 20754. I must have had at least three -250s.
The answers come up and I feel like I should be able to get this. I match up all the artists that sang these songs. Well get this and the bar might make the Top 20.
Encore Question:...What's the subtitle of "The 59th Street Bridge Song"?
.
.
Well I got to dictating the second word of the question into my micro recorder before I blurted out the answer. So much for my vow not to spoil the suspense for the others, maybe I'll have to make that a New Year's resolution.
Correct Answer:...3. Feelin' Groovy
[NTN Extra Fact:...Simon & Garfunkel sang this original Harpers Bizarre hit at their Central Park concert.]
Not as spooky as last week's game but last week I had been listening to my CD of Simon & Garfunkel's "Bookends" (nope, the song wasn't on that album).
I'm right and stay in 2nd place at the bar. I finish with 30157 points. That's good for 377th in North America. The bar is 14th in North America with a 29372 average. I earn 3000 Players Plus points for meeting this week's 16000 point standard. KAV wins and should have appeared in the Network Top 20 but the display only gave us the top ten players.
Here's how the rest of the bar did: Player preEncore Final Rank KAV 20754 31131 66 ROCKET 20105 30157 377 COSMO 19800 29700 523 METLCA 18814 28221 995 F CUJO 18436 27654 1176 BERGIE 18432 27648 1178 BIF 12837 16688 4675 KIRK 9726 x 4863 8448 SQUID 7716 x 3858 8768
Other games:...I start the evening with 2,386,500 P+ points.
8:00pm...Countdown...13980/15000...1st/6...1000+ points...I'm 106th in NA...bar is 87th.
8:30pm...RetroTVCountdown...13093/15000...1st/7...1000+ points (ah I miss earning 2000+ points in this time slot!)...I'm 108th in NA...bar is 133rd...I did better than last week's RetroTV game but that was because the questions were the same as last weeks!
Scores of the first two games were boosted with Richard's help and after we moved to Rob and Sean's booth, the rest of the night had five brains to think of the answers.
9:00pm...Playback (see above).
10:00pm...Countdown...12374/15000...3rd/10...1000+ points...I'm 891st in NA...bar is 144th...METLCA wins.
10:30pm...Countdown...12961/15000...2nd/12...1000+ points...I'm 127th in NA...bar is 4th in North America with a 12418 average...KAV wins with 13222 and is 20th in NA.
