Tonight I'm playing at the bar on two boards with Bill OH YA, Marlo ZIGGY and Bill MADDOG on my left and Doug CRANKY, Richard BERGIE/WOCKET and Kimmo KAV on my right. Doug left the cramped bar for a table so he could have some food served and Dave COITIS who'd just arrived took his spot in the middle of the Triviaoke round. The only two players we didn't know started in the Triviaoke round.

My game so far had gone like this:
TuneUp....ROCKET...4000/5000...3rd/9...in a six way tie.
..........LITBOX...4000/5000...BERGIE and CRANKY win round with 4500.
I only had two questions I didn't know and went 0 for 2 in guessing so our bar was
falling behind already.
OnBeat...ROCKET...10500/14000...3rd/9.
.........LITBOX...10500/14000...3rd/9...ZIGGY wins round, she and BERGIE have lead with 11000.
I went 7 right and 2 wrong. I wasn't hurt by not reading music news today as these questions
were from news of maybe two weeks ago but know I should have had one more.
JukeBox...ROCKET...14975/20000...4th/9.
..........LITBOX...14982/20000...3rd/13...LITBOX wins round...BERGIE in lead.
We had our choice of all the categories but the first two questions were tough.
Triviaoke...ROCKET...20453/28000...4th/11...OH YA wins round.
............LITBOX...20457/28000...3rd/11.
I passed 20000 with one question to spare and held on for the last song which I should have got
because it was a Natalie Cole song that I hated. I asked MADDOG to get us the 'Dock Of The
Bay' song because I'm sure he sang it in his band days.
Richard's WOCKET board, which he thought of after thinking of American newscaster Barbara
Walters, took over the lead.

I proclaimed we weren't going to get a Top 20 placing for the bar with us just squeaking over 20000. This Encore would have to be tough to get us up there. My book has fallen open between Hootie & The Blowfish and Bruce Hornsby. The answers come up and I can easily identify the artists of each album owning all of them. I'm thinking this will be something about 'What year' did this happen so I flip to the #1 section for a timeline.

Encore Question:...Which monster '80s album featured 'So Far Away' and 'Your Latest Trick'?

.

.

Easy...as I think of the guitar break in 'So Far Away'. I'd fallen asleep to this album years ago quite often because the second side of the cassette was quite calming at bedtime. The only worry is with Bill OH YA who discovered that someone is trying to sign on at his PIN frequency but he was able to hang on. Richard has time to tell us how he won the album at the CNE midway in a 'Guess Your Age' game in the 27 seconds of extra time we had before the correct answer showed up. I didn't bother backing up the answer in my book.

Correct Answer:...3. Brothers In Arms

[NTN Extra Fact:...This Dire Straits album also contained the hit song "Money For Nothing"]
I know we'd been asked that song title in a game tonight.

We all hold our positions. I finish 586th and 588th on my two boards. The bar finishes 13th in North America with a 30822 average. I earn 3000+ Players Plus points on both boards for meeting this week's 17000 point standard. Richard's WOCKET board wins.

Here's how the rest of the bar did:
Player preEncore	Final	Rank	ntn Top 100 rank (restricted to 5 per bar)
WOCKET	21064 31596 307	---
OH YA	20535 30803 550
LITBOX	20457 30685 586
ROCKET	20453 30679 588
BERGIE	20231 30347 690
ZIGGY	20197 30295 706
KAV	19830 29745 875
MADDOG	19566 29349 996
CRANKY	19182 28773	1173
SNOOD 6369	X 3185	9022
COITIS 4717 7075	7829
GOD 4157 6251	8082
DANKO 3201 4801	8527

So we got our placing for the bar after all although our scores weren't so hot. This afternoon I was at York University Stadium to watch a soccer game where the Toronto Lynx stunned the German Bundesliga team TSV 1860 Munich with a 1-0 score. Next week the CPSL league starts up and I expect I'll cover one of the games on Saturday evening. I don't have the full schedule and don't know yet how many Saturday nights I'll miss this summer.

Other games:...I start the evening with 2,118,100 Players Plus points for ROCKET. That's a 5% bonus from just last week. That would take me well into the Fall to earn that many points! LITBOX starts with 236,600 when I get signed on at 9:00pm after taking over Harry THEMAN's board.
8:00pm...Countdown...11481/15000...2nd/8...1000+ points...I'm 599th in NA...bar is 16th in NA with a 10502 average...THEMAN wins.
