Tonight I'm playing with a group of six, Dave COITIS on my right , Richard BERGIE, Bill OH YA, Kevin ROK, and Harry THEMAN on the left curling down the length of the bar. I'm playing two boards after Bill MADDOG left about 15 minutes before Playback game time and I trade in his dead board for a good one. I found myself in last place before the final Triviaoke question not hearing the answers the others were giving.

OnBeat...ROCKET...10500/14000...4th/10...COSMO wins round and leads with 12250. 7 right, 2 wrong is alright. .........LITBOX...10500/14000. JukeBox...ROCKET...16499/20000...4th/10. ..........LITBOX...16500/20000...3rd/10...LITBOX and COITIS win with a perfect round. Triviaoke...ROCKET...20159/28000...7th/10. ............LITBOX...20160/28000...6th/10...THEMAN wins round and takes lead. I barely make 20000 changing too slowly on quite a few songs.
The answers come up and I bookmark Vince Gill and Julio Iglesius. I'm going to be in trouble if I have to read anything because I forgot to bring my little flashlight and they've dimmed the lights. Richard says the question will be about a duet. This list looks like he has the right idea as we try to think of possible pairings.

Well no problem this week. I think I would have known this anyway but just as we thought it was spooky that Richard could say to easy questions before the answers were displayed "It'll be '2', it'll be '4'" and be right 50% of the time, I stopped in at the music store Sonic Temple earlier this week on my walk home from work to ask what happen to their discount box at the front of the store where used and sometimes new CDs were available for $1.00. (I've found some good stuff there like country artist Cyndi Thomson's 2001 album 'My World' unopened and still available downtown for $18). I asked "Isn't anything worth one dollar anymore?". "No, would you mind leaving your bag at the front of the store!" Rather than just leave at that moment I flipped through some racks of Various Artists compilations and the artist of tonight's answer before leaving and putting this store on my list of 'overpriced new and used CD stores'.

hmm! maybe I was fondling his older double CD sets while in the store.
I'm right and everybody held their position in the bar. I finish 6th and 7th with 30240 for LITBOX and 30239 for ROCKET. That's good for 249th and 250th. The bar is 17th in North America with a 31750 average. I earn 3000+ Players Plus points on both boards for meeting this week's standard of 17000. THEMAN wins with 33105.
I had noticed that I was in alignment with Sean and Rob's METLCA/COSMO/COSMET table and I signalled them the '4' finger wave for Encore and I thought they were waving back but later they said they were going with Chris Isaak until they saw me. They noticed that our two teams could hit answers that each other miss but we can't think of a solution when we each have our favourite spots of the bar. Harry, who usually is on his way out before I get here, thanked me for the help on his way out so I didn't feel bad not factoring in the bar average as we put up another Top 20 showing.
