Encore Question of February 16th, 2002.
Played at The Frog & Firkin in North York Ontario.

Answers:

  1. The Who
  2. The Doors
  3. The Beach Boys
  4. Grateful Dead
  5. The Eagles

Tonight my friends all left just before the Playback game and I took my boards over to the table of Sean METLCA and Rob COSMO/COSMET to play with them as a team for the first time.

My game so far had gone like this:
TuneUp....ROCKET...5000/5000...1st/7 my two boards win.
..........LITBOX...5000/5000.
OnBeat...ROCKET...11750/14000...3rd/7...I split an answer.
.........LITBOX...13000/14000...8 right, 1 not answered.
Chris Isaak's new CD was listed on the back cover of the weekly entertainment newspaper. I
saw Brandy's on the back cover of Billboard.
JukeBox...ROCKET...17557/20000...3rd/7.
..........LITBOX...18847/20000...1st/7.
Triviaoke...ROCKET...24491/28000...3rd/8.
............LITBOX...25698/28000...1st/8.

Sean and Rob must have boosted my score by about 3000 points with OnBeat and Triviaoke help. I'll have to remember this if there's a tournament. I was putting up with a board displaying hyrogliphics and my other that kept saying 'Answer Now' well after I'd pushed my choice. Both of them had at least one answer not ring in but so far all boards were ready for the Encore.

I've bookmarked The Doors, Grateful Dead, and The Eagles.

Encore Question:...Which band produced the first "live" album to reach Number 1 in the US?

.

.

I know this one right off because I've bought this CD within the last three years. How this band could put five albums on the chart in a single year with three studio albums, a Christmas album, and a Live album in 1964 had to take it's toll on Brian Wilson.

Correct Answer:...3. The Beach Boys

[NTN Extra Fact:...The feat was achieved by the 1964 release of "The Beach Boys Concert"].

I'm right and win with 38547 points for LITBOX. That lands me 4th on The Network Top 20 in North America. The bar finishes 2nd in North America with a 36672 average. I earn 3000+ Players Plus points on both boards for meeting this week's 15000 point standard.

I make the bar's Hall Of Fame board at the Number 1 and 2 positions. Every new placement now takes two spaces of the top 10 has meant that I now hold all 10 spots in the Playback game. That hasn't happened for me since the end of Joe Grinders bar. This Encore question must have been considered hard as a bar score of just over 16000 would have ranked in the Network Top 20.

Here's how the rest of the bar did:
Player preEncore	Final	Rank
LITBOX	25698 38547 4	4th on Network Top 20
COSMET	24605 36907 6
ROCKET	24491 36737 7
COSMO	23782 35673 8
METLCA	23665 35497 9
ZUKIE	10357	x 5179	8277
XCUSME 2281	x 1141	9620
JAQG C 48 58	9980

Other games:...I start the evening with 1653800 Players Plus points for ROCKET and 111500 for LITBOX.
7:30pm...Countdown...3411/15000...9th/9...I earn 500+ points...I'm 7391st in NA...bar is 226th...MADDOG wins...I'm here in time for the last five questions.
8:00pm...Countdown...11106/15000...5th/10...1000+ points...I'm 1892nd in NA...bar is 17th but I don't catch our average...METLCA wins.
8:30pm...Countdown...9153/15000...3rd/10...2000+ points...I'm 1724th in NA...bar is 282nd...COITIS wins.
9:00pm...Wipeout...ROCKET...8054/15000...5th/9...1000+ points...METLCA wins.
.........LITBOX...8056/15000...4th/9...1000+ points...I'm 3597th in NA...bar is 20th with an 8782 average.
9:30pm...Countdown...ROCKET...10103/15000...2nd/9...1000+ points...I'm 2727 in NA...bar is 621st.
............LITBOX...10128/15000...1st/9...1000+ points...I'm 2709th in NA.
We get a Countdown game instead of Wipeout as NTN spends the first eight minutes taking a survey of tequila habits.

Most of my scores were lower this week while watching the Olympics on both the CBC English and French networks. No distractions once I moved over to Sean and Rob's table.
