Encore Question of January 5th, 2002.
Played at The Frog & Firkin in North York Ontario.
Answers:
Tonight I'm working on two boards and playing with Richard BERGIE, Doug CRANKY, Bill MADDOG and Marlo ZIGGY. I had the lead tonight and was safely past the 20000 point mark before Encore.
My game so far had gone like this: TuneUp....ROCKET...4000/5000...7th/14...METLCA, COSMO and BERGIE win. ..........LITBOX...4000/5000. OnBeat...ROCKET...11750/14000...1st/14...I co-win round with both boards. .........LITBOX...11750/14000...1st/14...hey 8 right and 1 wrong and I'm pleased. Richard gave me at least one of these. JukeBox...ROCKET...16259/20000...1st/14...MADDOG wins round. ..........LITBOX...16253/20000...2nd/14. Triviaoke...ROCKET...22801/28000...1st/14...COSMO wins round. ............LITBOX...21873/28000...2nd/14...outsmarting myself on the last question trying to nudge ROCKET ahead for my top board then changing my mind and discovering that LITBOX didn't register at all, hope this doesn't count too bad against bar average. I recognized some repeat questions this round.
The answers come up and I see NTN quizmaster favourites Jimmy Buffett and Tom Waits. I bookmark Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, and Bob Marley.
Encore Question:..."A White Sport Coat And A Pink Crustacean" was the second album by this music legend.
.
.
I know this right off and have to blurt out the answer while still reading the question although I don't even ask the others if they knew.
Correct Answer:...4. Jimmy Buffett
[NTN Extra Fact:...Buffett released the album way back in 1973].
I had heard the answer to this question from a few sources that it was engraved in my mind. Good thing as this album never made my the Top 200 chart so it wasn't in my book. I think it was mentioned on television promoting a concert that he was artist of this album. Otherwise think 'novelty artist' and 'mentions something about the sea'. Only thing to throw anyone was calling him a 'music legend' but then you'd have to know how many Jimmy Buffett questions make NTN games (maybe that title was mentioned in another question).
I win the game with 34201 for ROCKET and 32809 for LITBOX. I earn 3000+ points for meeting this week's 19000 Players Plus point standard. I finish 12th on the Network Top 20 and our bar is 13th in North America with a 31059 average.
Here's how the rest of the bar did: Player preEncore Final Rank ROCKET 22801 34201 12 12th on Network Top 20 LITBOX 21783 32809 84 BERGIE 19733 29599 1054 METLCA 19720 29580 1060 COSMO 19405 29107 1203 MADDOG 19304 28596 1248 ZIGGY 17762 19538 4095 CAPER 17716 26574 1968 LARS U 17636 26454 2004 CRANKY 15237 22855 3092 RMATE 12887 15464 5326 ICH 10694 x 5347 8383 TOROTT 8190 x 4095 8762 SPOCK 4022 x 2011 9392
Other games:...I start the evening with 1603300 Players Plus points as I'd ground out 11000 points here on New Year's Eve. Fortunately that night the point standards were really easy to meet but I was mingling with the other party people.

Ray leaves and I take over his board as LITBOX with 95500 Players Plus points.
