Encore Question of June 2nd, 2001.
Played at The Frog & Firkin in North York Ontario.

  1. Breathe
  2. Brand New Day
  3. I Will Remember You
  4. You'll Be In My Heart
  5. I Hope You Dance

Tonight I'm in 3rd place coming into the Encore round. My knowledge of current events is really starting to decline now as in the OnBeat round I get four right and don't guess the other five. I'm playing with Richard BERGIE, Dave COITUS, and about out of earshot Doug CRANKY, Bill MADDOG, Ray MAC, and arriving near the end of TuneUp Paul ZUKEE.

My game so far had gone like this:
TuneUp...4500/5000...1st/12...COSMO, COITUS, and ROCKET win the round for a three way tie.
OnBeat...8500/14000...4th/13...CAPER wins round...four right, five not answered.
JukeBox...12897/20000...2nd/13...COSMO wins round.
Triviaoke...17972/28000...3rd/12...not sure who won this round.

These songs look too new to be in my book and they're all from various artists. My book was open at Fabian and Faces but I shut it to pay attention. I know who sang each song but will that help?

Encore Question:...Which song inspired a best selling self-help book by songwriters Mark Sanders and Tia Sillers?

I don't know but guess '2' thinking that might make an inspirational title. Dave has '3' with my encouragement that someone get it right. Richard has said he was guessing '2' and I can't hear anyone else.

Correct Answer:...5. I Hope You Dance

[NTN Extra Fact:...Each copy came with a compact disc of Lee Ann Womack's monster hit.]

I'm wrong and stay at 3rd with 8986 points. I earn only 1500+ points by not meeting the 15000+ points standard this week. Individual ranks are not given. Our bar is 1143rd as everyone was wrong. I hadn't heard this Encore news and the Top 20 ranking of bars wasn't very high making it look like this wasn't common knowledge.

We should have scrambled our answers better but who'd think the correct answer would be a self-help book? I went home and looked it up on-line. The book and CD were available for $9.99 US at some book stores yet the CD lists in Billboard for $17.99. (maybe it's just a CD single because otherwise this should be a best seller with music fans just chucking the book)! Maybe I'm right in thinking this wasn't the best title.

Here's how the rest of the bar did:
Player	preEncore	Final	Rank

COSMO	18666	x	9333
MAC	18002	x	9001
ROCKET	17972	x	8986
COITUS	16965	x	8483
BERGIE	16124	x	8062
METLCA	15287	x	7643
ZUKEE	14675	x	7337
CRANKY	14085	x	7043
CAPER	13791	x	6895
MADDOG	13620	x	6810
JUICYJ 6668	x	3335
ILL T 2707	x	2436

The Frog & Firkin is designated a bar not a restaurant so Toronto's new smoking ban bylaw is not in effect here until 2004.

Other games:...I start the evening with 1417800 Players Plus points.
Each game seems to have one question about pro-wrestling, one about bar drinks, and at least one about artists. 8:00pm...Countdown...10445/15000...5th/10...1000+ points...I'm 1128th...bar is 6th in North America...MAC wins.
8:30pm...Countdown...10501/15000...3rd/10...2000+ points...I'm 1339th...bar is 13th in NA with a 10774 average...MAC wins.
9:00pm...Wipeout...8490/15000...3rd/8...1000+ points...I missed the placings...MAC wins.
9:30pm...Wipeout...10288/15000...2nd/10...1000+ points...I'm 2249th...bar is 356th...COITUS wins.
