Encore Question of May 12th, 2001.
Thanks to the Playback group mailing list because I didn't play this week.

  1. London
  2. New York
  3. Chicago
  4. Philadelphia
  5. Los Angeles

I didn't play last night. I was at a swim night. Although I hadn't counted on missing this week, looking at my calendar with the soccer season starting next week and other summer commitments, it looks like I'll miss ten Saturday's between now and the season end in October.

Encore Question:...Which city's symphony orchestra recorded the famed "Star Wars" theme?

Correct Answer:...1. London

I would have got this one. I remember the London Symphony Orchestra was involved in pop projects back in the 1970s and 1980s. They had the 'Hooked On Classics' series of pop medleys. I could have backed up my suspicions with my book by waiting for the question as I couldn't bookmark anything then look through the special soundtrack section.

I would have got less than half the OnBeat questions so unless my friends could help me out with some of them, it would have been a pretty mediocre game. Maybe in the months ahead my knowledge of Oldies will improve as the neighbourhood Towers music store has closed it's doors after less than one year and I must have stocked up with 40 CDs in the last two weeks at 50% off. (however that means that my second source for Billboard magazines vanishes as next door Indigo dropped carrying them last month).

The ntn.com site lists our bar was 84th in North America with a 19810 average. Only 9 boards were in use.

I don't expect to be at The Frog & Firkin next week as it's the Toronto Lynx season opener.
