Encore Question of March 31st, 2001.
Played at The Frog & Firkin in North York Ontario.

Answers:

  1. Alison Krauss
  2. Pam Tillis
  3. Patty Loveless
  4. Emmylou Harris
  5. Reba McEntire

Tonight we have a small turnout with only nine players in the bar for the Playback game. I'm playing with Doug CRANKY, Bill MADDOG, and Ray MAC.

My game so far had gone like this:
TuneUp....4000/5000...2nd/9 in five way tie...COSMO wins with perfect round.
OnBeat...10750/14000...4th/9...METLCA wins round with perfect 9000 and takes lead with 13000.
I get 7 right, 1 wrong, and 1 I don't guess. I'd settle for that every week without anyone
able to give me answers I didn't already know.
JukeBox...16750/20000...4th/9...I win round with a perfect 6000. METLCA leads with 18916.
Triviaoke...21991/28000...3rd/9...MADDOG wins round. MAC has lead with 24241. The song
lyrics had more throw away answers so we could concentrate on the more reasonable two
possibilities.

So tonight's question would be another Country music one. Another groan from our little group. I had let my book fall open on its own before the answers were displayed and it had opened at Reba McEntire! (every week I do this as a joke and I'll start mentioning that in here). Well one less bookmark needed. Who else? Alison Krauss and Pam Tillis. Here's the question:

Encore Question:...This Country chanteusse sings about broken relationships on her album "Forget About It".

.

None of us know this. Time to look in my book. Not Pam Tillis, not Alison Krauss, not Reba McEntire. Not enough time for Emmylou Harris. Nope. I've left my answer on '5'.

Correct Answer:...1 Alison Kraus

[NTN Extra Fact:...I missed it.]

My Albums book includes listings up to the end of 1996. This must have been a new album because Alison Krauss only has one album in the book. I went home and looked for this week's Billboard Country Albums charts. "Forget About It" is still on their charts in its 79th week. So I've had more than a year to read about this!

I'm wrong and finish with 10955 points. I earn 1500+ Players Plus points for not meeting this week's 19000 point standard. The bar finishes 507th in North America. A bar score of only 18xxx would have got us into the Network Top 20. Individual rankings beyond the top 20 were not given again this week. Ray MAC won with an 'accidently' conservative bet. I didn't notice any Toronto area bar's on the Network Top 20. This city lost it's only Country radio station more than two years ago because of low ratings.

Here's how the rest of the bar did:
Player	preEncore	Final	Rank
MAC	24241	x	19391
MADDOG	23834	x	11917
ROCKET	21991	x	10995
METLCA	21674	x	10837
COSMO	21514	x	10757
PEZMAN	19752	x 9876
CRANKY	18291	x 9145
MAGIF	14683	x 8810
TROIS	10341	x 5171

Other games:...I started the night with 1365300+ Players Plus points.
7:30pm...Countdown...3092/15000...7th/7...500+ points...I'm 7237th in NA...bar is 430th...COSMO wins...I'm here in time for the last five questions.
8:00pm...Countdown...10645/15000...2nd/9...1000+ points...I'm 59th in NA...bar is 11th in North America with a 9413 average...THE MAN wins.
8:30pm...Countdown...12551/15000...1st/9...2000+ points...I'm 69th in NA...bar is 14th in North America with a 12020 average.
9:00pm...Wipeout...10471/15000...3rd/7...1000+ points...I'm 520th in NA...bar is 229th...CRANKY wins.
9:30pm...Wipeout...13889/15000...1st/9...1000+ points...I'm 55th in NA...bar is 211th...I get the highest Wipeout score of the month in the bar and I only mention that because this is the last day of March.
