Encore Question of August 26, 2000.
Played at The Frog & Firkin in North York Ontario.
Answers:
Tonight I'm well behind The Regulars who brought six people out but had problems getting enough boards before this game started. I lost this game in the OnBeat round when I was 4 right, 5 wrong. I had read about three of the answers I got wrong but not enough detail and couldn't remember them. I'm in super sulk mode after that but recover for the rest of the game to get an average score. The coin operated trivia/poker machine had been moved away to it's out of the way table but only Kimmo KAV seemed to be listening to me during this game.
My game so far had gone like this: TuneUp....5000/5000...1st/18...7 way tie for 1st with the others being on The Regulars. OnBeat...7750/14000...7th/18...4 right/5 wrong...PLBAAB wins round and has 14000. JukeBox...12931/20000...7th/19...ELVIS wins round. Triviaoke...19518/28000...7th/17...ROCKET wins round.
So the Encore answers come up. I recognize Running On Empty and Lawyers In Love and know this should be something about Jackson Browne so that's where I flip open my book.
Question:...All of these are Jackson Browne albums except:
I pick off the other answers and have put in my choice and tell KAV, the Regulars have it too in their book as all the choices made the Top 40. (the non Jackson Browne album only made position 164 in the charts for 5 weeks in 1975).
I'd bought the CD 'Running On Empty' earlier this year from the clearance bin. I'm still laughing at the record review I read in my school newspaper twenty years ago about the song 'The Load Out/Stay' with the critic quoting the lyrics "Now the seats are all empty, let the roadies take the stage, pack it up and tear it down. They're the first to come and the last to go, working for that minimum wage." So he comments. "Gee Jackson, maybe you should pay them more!"
Correct Answer:...2 Nighthawks Of The Diner
[NTN Extra Fact:...Nighthawks is the work of another singer/songwriter Tom Waits.]
I'm right and finish with 29277 points. I stay in 7th place and earn 3000+ Players Plus points for meeting the standard although I didn't catch what score I needed. The individual rankings are not given but probably I was in the top 1000. The bar was 8th in North America with a 35519 average.
Here's how the rest of the bar did: Player preEncore Final Rank PLBAAB 24727 37091 27 7th on the Network Top 20 ELVIS 24214 36321 38 KELLY 23522 35283 52 MOLSON 23492 35238 53 TIGER 22443 33665 84 JARVIS 22300 33450 88 ROCKET 19518 29277 KAV 15370 23055 FCUK 14430 21645 ESTI 14288 x 7744 C 13499 20249 MADDOG 12893 x 6447 BARNAK 11186 x 5593 KLISS 9806 x 4903 CRANKY 8049 x 4025 PIERRE 7803 x 3901 KILLK 4814 x 3370 LYNN ? 1500 x 750 LIZ 500 x 250 CMPSEI 0 x 0

9:00pm...Wipeout...5072/15000...9th/15...500+ points (only two in our bar get the 8000 standard)...I'm 3458th in NA...bar is 4th in NA with a 7690 average...TIGER wins.
9:30pm...Wipeout...10369/15000...4th/20...1000+ points...I'm 46th in NA...bar is 4th in NA with a 10570 average.
More low network scores tonight for the early evening games. Some of the messages on the Playback board from the USA complain that patrons in the bar get the management to turn on the football games and they can't play.
