Encore Question of April 1, 2000.
Played at The Frog & Firkin in North York Ontario.
Answers:
Tonight I'm in 6th place but having a very good game thanks to getting at least three questions help in the OnBeat round from tonight's team of Richard BERGIE, Bill MADDOG, Kimmo KAV, and the couple REDEYE and KPTKT sharing answers since the sports game. My game so far had gone like this:
TuneUp....4000/5000...3rd/19 in a nine way tie...REDEYE and KPTKT won round with 4500...the whole bar wiped out on the Michael Jackson vs Ice Cube singing 'Get On The Bus' for Spike Lee. OnBeat...11750/14000...8th/19...a five way tie for first place among The Regulars. JukeBox...16152/20000...9th/19...ELVIS wins round and grabs lead with 18636. Triviaoke...24055/28000...6th/19...KELLY wins round and takes over lead with 26543.
What a choice of occupations for the Encore. My book wouldn't help and in fact cost me a game's worth of Players Plus points as I was about a third of the way to the bar and realized I'd brought the wrong book--it's my Top Album book that I want to have with me--so I turned and walked home, then took the subway here rather than go to the much closer Sweet Cheeks. Well bring it on:
Question:...Clive Davis was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame as a/an:
This man I've heard of and was looking for 'record producer' through the answers then realized '1' would be the closest they'd give to his occupation. I'd read about the inductions about a month ago but it was a question in tonight's game that made me think of him. I'd called out an answer in the OnBeat round with seconds to go about Whitney Houston being displaced from singing at the Oscars by Burt Bacharach. I couldn't think of it then but linked Whitney and Davis together on my walk home. Another reason I knew was he's often mentioned in the headlines of Billboard magazine for executive decisions. OK I've got that one covered as I make sure our group of five have that answer.
Correct Answer:...1. Executive
[NTN extra fact:...The founder of Arista Records discovered such acts as Santana, Chicago, and Boz Scaggs].
I'm right and hold my position at 6th. I finish with 36083 points which is 51st in North America. I earn 3000+ Players Plus points for meeting tonight's 21000 point standard. The bar is 2nd in North America with 38721 points.

One soccer question tonight. Canada won their only soccer gold medal here:...St Louis. the question never mentioned Olympic games so I told everyone Los Angeles for last month's Gold Cup where photos clearly displayed the players with gold medals. However with the choices it was obvious they meant the 1904 Olympic Games when a team from Galt Ontario beat two American teams to win the three team tournament. I was talking about this last week at the Voyageurs soccer fans meeting. I got 999 points but most in the bar got a good score.
