Encore Question of March 18, 2000.
Played at The Frog & Firkin in North York Ontario.

  1. Heart
  2. Fleetwood Mac
  3. Billy Joel
  4. The Rolling Stones
  5. The Bangles

Tonight I have the lead going into the Encore round having held the lead the until Triviaoke, falling to third and regaining the lead. I was in a big group along the board with Jeff LEAFAN and Richard BERGIE offering the most help, and KIMMO Kav, and DBA Mike. Bill MADDOG was in the far corner but stopped playing when he and a friend were accosted by a argumentative Christian. Actually a drunken argumentative Christian which was even worse. My game so far had gone like this:

TuneUp....5000/5000...1st/17...there is a 15 way tie for 1st place!
OnBeat...12750/14000...1st/17...ROCKET, LEAFAN, KAV, DBA, TIGER win round...(I think the
bar messed up the question about the record company on the Internet).
JukeBox...18750/20000...1st/19...ROCKET, VIKING win round.
Triviaoke...24098/28000...1st/18...Barry who is both JARVIS and OLE JR win round...(someone
on the NTN message board that I belong too printed lyrics to the Spin Doctors song to prove
the answer was wrong, this question wiped all 18 players for -250).

I had an idea that the answer would be about a Canadian group after seeing three TuneUp questions about Canada...Crash Test Dummies are from Canada, (Canadian) Neil Young teamed with Pearl Jam, Alanis Morissette sang Head Over Feet. Also in OnBeat, Shania Twain won the Juno Award last Sunday for best songwriter. (I even saw the show but needed help for this one). I thought the answer would be Heart as they are often mistaken for a Canadian band because the group left Seattle for Vancouver so the guys in the band could avoid the draft for VietNam.

I had spent the 30 seconds they allow for placing our bets with getting my book ready instead of dictating the bar scores even though I knew there were no individual standings in the Wipeout game. I bookmark Heart and later The Bangles when Richard or Jeff mentioned not knowing much about them.

Question:...'The Road Home' is an unplugged album by ___________.

I've got my book open at The Bangles; can't find them, Heart? Yes it's them. I reassure the others in our group and have enough time to walk over and tell The Regulars but they knew that too (I can be a nice guy when I'm winning). I'm back in time to think, would I have known that? I haven't heard of the album but didn't even look up at the other three choices until I play back my tape, I should have got this by eliminating all the other groups.

Correct Answer:....1. Heart

I'm right and win. I'm 4th on the Top 20 Network board in North America with 36147 points. The bar is 3rd in North America with a 35463 point average. I earn 3000+ Players Plus points for meeting tonight's 20000 point standard. The individual scores count up from 18 to 8 and cut off. No individual rankings are given. I'll try to put the order together by the NTN top 100 rankings as our group probably did pretty well.

Here's how the rest of the bar did:......(there were no individual network rankings displayed
and the monitors only counted down from 18th to 8th place before cutting off, so that makes
it hard to fill in the blanks).
Player	pre-Encore	Final	Rank
ROCKET	24098 36147 18	4th on Network Top 20 board.
TIGER	23742 35613 30	last minute name change to ENIGMA
LEAFAN	23500 35250 38
KELLY	23477 35215 42
OLE JR	23394 35091 51
JARVIS	23394 35091 52
MOLSON	23213 34819 57
VIKING	23197 34795 58
KAV	23157 34735 59
ELVIS	22034 33051 86
DBA	20466 30699
MERM	20084 30126
VILLA	19972 29958
BERGIE	19895 29843
BUBBIE	15705	x	12564
FREEKS	15030	x 7515
CAFREY 7553 11329
BREN 4130 6195

I passed the 1 million point mark in the 8:30pm Countdown game. Between now and when I earn a white plus sign for making 1.5 million, the monitors will only display '1M' before each game. I became a Players Plus player March 23, 1996 so it's been a slow four years but then I only play at most once a week.

Other games:...started the evening with 998800.
8:00pm...Countdown...11768/15000...2nd/6...1000+ points...I'm 326th in North America...bar is 268th in NA...BERGIE wins.
