  1. Monterey
  2. Miami
  3. Montreal
  4. Minneapolis
  5. Milwaukee

I'm in 2nd place going into the Encore round playing with BERGIE tonight. There seem to be three groups tonight as 'The Regulars' have four players and six boards and another group has about three boards. I have 23687 points which is really good for me after the last few weeks but KELLY has the lead with 25109.

My game so far had gone like this:
TuneUp.....4500/5000.....1st/16 (5 way tie between KELLY, JARVIS, MOLSON, ENIGMA, ROCKET), I missed the first question and clawed my way to be a cowinner.
OnBeat....12250/14000....2nd/16...BIDGE and KELLY (13500) win with a perfect round while I get 8 right, 1 wrong.
JukeBox....17433/20000....2nd/16...NANOO wins round...KELLY still holds lead.
Triviaoke....23687/28000....2nd/15...JARVIS and OLE JR win round (the same guy)...KELLY still in lead.

In the Triviaoke round, suddenly friends that I play with came into the bar but seeing no boards available, there's about five broken Playmakers under the corner television, went upstairs to play pool. LEAFAN, ZEDMAN, Y, FERREL were just four of them. The Players Plus standard was 13000 points for this game tonight. I put 50% on the line seeing a list of these cities:

Question:...The ___________ Horns have been featured on recordings by Bon Jovi, Robert Cray, and Dr Hook.

I haven't heard of this group but start thinking of what sounds the best combo of these "M" cities. My mind zooms in on Dr Hook and how I had the chance to pick up a Dr Hook greatest hits CD a few months ago for about $7. I don't even think of the other groups just what the goofy guys in Dr Hook would use. BERGIE says "Miami, you've got to think of that Cuban influence". It certainly sounds the best. I've peeled of Montreal as I know as a Canadian I'd have heard if there was such a group of musicians. Monterey? I thought of the pop festival and Minneapolis and Milwaukee didn't sound like believable towns even with Prince's stable of musicians. I would have guessed Memphis if they'd offered that as a choice but these choices made it easy.

Correct Answer:.....2. Miami

Extra caption:...This brass group has also played on film soundtracks.

I couldn't find them in my music book but found them on my 1995 BonJovi--These Days cassette. 'The Miami Horns: Trombone-Richi LaBamba; Tenor Sax-Jerry Vivino; Trumpet-Mark Pender; Baritone Sax-Ed Manion'. (Bon Jovi thank The Margarita Horns on their Slippery When Wet album). Nope I didn't know that earlier. It's just the city name 'sounded right'.

I'm right and look to see that I'd won! I finish with 35531 points. That's good for 9th on the Top 20 North American Network board and 17th overall. The bar is 5th in North America with a 32835 average. I make 6th in the bar's Hall Of Fame board so now hold 2nd, 5th and 6th and displace my 10th place score. I earn 3000 + Players Plus points.

MOLSON came up behind me so I could ask him why their group was right but 'how could let KELLY hang up to dry?' and fall to 10th. Just some kind of mixup.

Here's how the rest of the bar did:

Player...............preEncore............Final..........Rank......NTN.com
KELLY.................25109......x.......12555.......5883...
ROCKET.............23687..............35531...........17.....17
MOLSON.............21874..............32811...........59.....48
BIDGE.................21510...............32265...........69.....65...actually MOLSON 2
ENIGMA..............21487...............32231...........70.....66
JARVIS...............20891...............31337............91.....92
OLE JR...............18833......x..........9417........6912...actually JARVIS 2, now that's a strategy I think is smart if I controlled two boards, more likely to guarantee a good score if there's any uncertainty by at least one being right.
BERGIE...............18490................27735..........906...
JAM.....................14908................22362........2667...
NANOO...............14142................21213........3044...
CAD.....................14068......x.........7034.........7693...
KMLEON..............13695.....x..........6847.........7755...
DCUBED..............12443.....x..........6221.........7960...
BAB......................12030................18045........4083...
NOGOOD..............7566......x...........5296.........8263...

The legend DAVETV had been to this bar earlier in the evening but left before I arrived.
