I have the lead playing with a group of Y (Yvonne) and MADDOG (Bill) on my left and ZEDMAN and BERGIE on my right and JSBACH and LEAFAN just out of earshot as I have the prime position in the middle of the bar.
My game so far had gone like this:
Tune-Up......4000/5000....1st/16 (6 way tie)..with JARVIS, LEAFAN, TIGER, RELIC, PHREDD.
OnBeat.....10500/14000...2nd/16.....MADDOG wins round...LEAFAN holds lead with 10750.
Jukebox.....16499/20000...1st/16.....I win that round.
Triviaoke....21830/28000...1st/16......KELLY wins round.
The answers were all groups from the 1980's. We'd done well with two 1980's questions in the Jukebox round so everyone put 50% of their points on the line.
Question:....Synthesizer players Ian Marsh and Martyn Ware were originally members of this band.
I hadn't got a chance to write the five answers down before they disappeared. When the question was displayed. I asked "Was the Human League up there? Yes? Well it's them." before the answers were redisplayed. These two guys weren't the most famous of the Human League with their one guy, two gal singers up front [Phil Oakey, Susanne Sulley and Joanne Catherall] I blanked out on their names while at the bar until I was walking home. One of these guys [actually both Ware and Marsh] left the group to form Heaven 17.
