Encore Question of January 2nd, 1999.
Played at The Frog & Firkin in North York.

Answers:

  1. Symphonic
  2. New Age
  3. Jazz
  4. Alternative
  5. Country

I'm in the lead coming into this last question helping out Jeff LEAFAN. He must have given me five 1000 point answers in the SunSportsTrivia we just played before this game so now I could repay him. There weren't many regular players here because we were having a snowstorm. It was so intense that I took the subway to get here and back instead of walking.

My game so far had gone like this:
Tune-Up..........4500/5000......1st/10 in two way tie with LEAFAN.
OnBeat.........11250/14000......2nd/10 as TICK wins with 8000 and has 11500 points.
JukeBox.......15679/20000......1st/10 as I win round.
Triviaoke......21640/28000......1st/10 as I win round.

I expected this question to be a person's name and what type of music do they play. With 50% on the line...

Question:..."Woodshedding" is a term used among ___________ musicians.

Ooops, I have no idea what this means. Noone within earshot knows either. I guess Country as I think of that old punishment 'take him out behind the woodshed' would at least be in a place where they have woodsheds (like a farm). (They'd already asked a Buck Owens question tonight). I think this sounds stupid and tell Jeff I'm switching to Symphonic. Well maybe it's some kind of musical instrument playing. As I'm not sure, I encourage LEAFAN to keep his answer as Jazz.

Correct Answer:......3. Jazz

They give us another screen which I never usually notice other weeks. It said: 'Artists stowing themselves away for months of intense practise'.
I've still never heard that term but I've heard of plenty of music from other gendres who've done this before starting a tour. (Maybe I should have thought of all those jazz Encore questions last Fall and that the same person is writing these questions!).

I'm wrong and finish in 3rd with 10820 points. I earn 1500+ Players Plus points as I was below the 17000 standard. My standing was 5473rd in North America. The bar finishes in 703rd. Jeff LEAFAN wins with a very good score. Here's how everyone did:

Player....................pre-Encore........Final..........Rank......
ROCKET..................21640..............10820.........5473.......
LEAFAN...................19761..............29641.............64.......
KELLY.......................18195...............9097.........6193.......
MOLSON..................17313................8657.........6378......
X................................16082................8041.........6635......
TICK..........................15328...............22992..........380......
NISH..........................13579...............6789...........7159.....
ROBO..........................9387................4693...........8036.....
CRASH........................8813................4407...........8156.....
LXIXR..........................8187................4097...........8287.....

Well at least two people were right. I had shown TICK how to play at the start when he asked me how to use a Playmaker. After the game (I asked, he said he guessed), I reminded him how he could change his answer as I noticed he faded in the JukeBox round often losing 250 per question.

Other games:
8:00pm...Countdown...7420/15000...3rd/6...I'm given 10000th in North America...bar is 2484th...500+ points...BOBME wins...(getting here before the 6th question would have helped my score).
8:30pm...Countdown...11652/15000...2nd/10...I'm 88th in NA...bar is 39th...2000+ points...BOBME wins.
9:00pm...Wipeout...10487/15000...1st/10...I'm 126th in NA...bar is 183rd...1000+ points.
9:30pm...SunSportsCountdown...11624/15000...1st/13...I'm 15th in Southern Ontario on the Top 20 Network, 19th overall, Thanks Jeff!...bar is 6th with a 9869 average...1000+ points...(there appears to have been 385 players in the region as someone signs up after the 15th question).
10:00pm...Playback (see above).

I was also here on New Year's Eve as were many regulars. I planned to mingle that night and that included going upstairs to the 2nd floor for the first time to check out what was up there...pool tables and more restaurant seating. I earned something like 6000-8000 Players Plus points throughout the night. It was a Thursday night so I also played part of the Trivial Pursuit long game, mini game, RetroTV, and Countdown games.
