Tonight I'm in fifth place behind two people in the regulars group and two players in my group coming into this last question. The top 8 players are all within 3000 points. This set of answers wasn't going to give away any hint of the question but I put 50% on the line. I have brought a new toy tonight for the first time...a pocket microcassette recorder so I can dictate the question into the machine as you've heard me complain I don't have time to write it down and think of an answer. Actually this was something I wanted to get for the soccer season because if I want to get serious and conduct interviews next year, it will really help me out. Should be great for details. I'd won the JukeBox round and clawed my way up from 9th place but here's how we stood. A better than 5250 game in OnBeat would have helped as the rest of my group did better than me. I had trouble hearing them although they heard my answers. I should try to be in the middle of the 'L' we form around the bar instead of at the bottom.

Question:.....As you might expect, the Prince song 1999 is making a comeback. When was it first released?
Well no problem as I'd just read that on a music web site one of my American readers had recommended. The answer is 1982. Ok tell it to the group from my poistion in that awkward bottom of the 'L' I have at the bar. "1982, I just read about this". Wait Jeff didn't hear. "1982". Plenty of time left. That would be a tough one to write down in time but I'm able to dictate it twice in here. I thought of the answer the hard way. It was December 1984 when I was sitting in the end blue seats at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto listening to Prince's Purple Rain tour or long before that buying the '1999' album LP on a lunch break from work when I used to work downtown (wouldn't know the exact year)...

Well the bar cheers as both groups figured this out but my score has fallen to 10337 and I'm down to 9th place out of 15 players. I think back. I never did press in my answer so I'm of course counted as wrong. Haha. I have a tough time explaining this to the two groups. I finish 6105th in North America. I earn 1500+ Players Plus points. The bar is 2nd in North America with a 31898 average. ENIGMA wins with 33468 points. That was 11th on the Top 20 Network board. FERREL only bet 10% and Y didn't bet 50% neither. That strategy won him the Jewel question two weeks earlier.
The individuals in the bar did great with 6 players in the top 100.
