Best 13 ????? Best
ref Gord Arrowsmith put his stamp on this game.
1st half (Jets defend east goal to start)
2 min injury to City player Shawn Taggart but he recovered.
5 min injury to Jet player Robert Marcucci who was tripped by goalie's
hand when on breakaway. Arrowsmith didn't call penalty. The crowd of
300-400 was on him for that but he just loves that reception from the
CSL days.
15 min injury to Garvin Houston who was eventually replaced by Vince
Cancelliere at the 18 min mark.
21 min City yellow Taggart for clutching Jet player on breakaway; but
what about advantage?
Most of first half was played in the City end because the City team
couldn't string enough passes together.
2nd Half
Jets sub Anthony Zanini replaces Vince Cancelliere sometime after half
started.
53 min London either Brown or Taggart was injured.
68 min London injury to Catalan
71 min London sub Mark Best replaces Detterville
78 min Jet yellow Antonucci for hard tackle right in front of ref.
82 min London sub Mahoney replaces Davies
84 min Jets sub Alvarez for Rizzo
87 min London yellow Best for mouthing off to ref
89 min London yellow Mahoney for rough play?
Final score: Toronto Jets 0 London City 0
There were no longer any football lines on the field to distract from
play.
This looked like two bad teams playing out there and I found the game
quite dull. However, London City was 1st in the league and 6th (ie
last) in the CUP competition.
This was a smaller crowd than their first home game. There have been
two games postponed for an election and weather conditions so the
momentum has been lost. There was no souvenir stand set up this game
but neither was there one for Italia's games the last few times.
Next game is Thursday July 27th with Jets against Hamilton White
Eagles.
Bye for now
