Grant-Nicholas Kullojka Signs with York United FC Academy for the 2025 Season March 10, 2025

York United FC Academy continues to build its squad for the 2025 League1 Ontario season with the addition of midfielder Grant-Nicholas Kullojka, a Toronto-born player whose path to the Nine Stripes has been shaped by hard work and adaptability.

Grant first caught the attention of York United’s scouting team during a summer camp hosted by the club in 2024. His performances stood out, leading to ongoing evaluation throughout the year. After impressing in multiple assessments, he was invited to join the Academy in December, marking a key step in his young career.

Embracing the next step

For Grant, this is more than just another stage in his football journey. It’s a chance to be part of something bigger.

“Being part of York United means representing my city and community. I’m lucky to have this opportunity, and I see it as an important step in my path toward professional soccer,” he says.

His journey began in a community center gym before moving into organized football with Power Soccer. He then progressed through North Toronto Nitros, ProStars FC, and Richmond Hill SC, learning to adapt to different coaching styles, tactics, and systems along the way.

“Every team has its own approach, and every coach has a unique way of seeing the game. Learning to adjust while staying true to my strengths has been key to my growth,” he reflects.

A midfielder with a purpose

A central midfielder who thrives in both attack and defense, Grant sees himself as a key link in the team’s play.

“I’m a typical No. 8. I want to be involved in everything. I love getting forward, taking shots from distance, or attempting a volley. But I also take pride in defending, making a strong tackle when needed. My vision, passing, creativity, shooting, and leadership are what define me as a player,” he explains.

His experiences in different football environments have helped shape his competitive mindset. Facing high-level opposition and training at an elite level have only reinforced his drive to improve.

“The more you immerse yourself in football, the more it becomes a part of you. Every experience, good or bad, teaches you something. That’s what keeps me motivated to get better every day.”

As he begins this new chapter with York United FC Academy, Grant understands the opportunity in front of him.

“This is a place built for growth, surrounded by teammates and coaches who share the same passion and drive. That’s what makes this experience so valuable.”

Now, with a clear goal ahead, he’s ready to take the next step, represent his city, and contribute to the club’s success.
