Serje Kaloustian: A winger ready to take the next step with York United FC Academy

For Serje Kaloustian, football has always been about growth. His experience across multiple academies introduced him to different styles, coaching philosophies, and competitive environments, shaping him into the player he is today. When York United FC’s scouting staff invited him to the club’s tryouts, he knew this was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.

“Playing for multiple academies and being under different coaching staffs has taught me a lot about the game and has allowed me to look at soccer in many different angles,” he explains. “That has helped me in my career because I learned to be adaptive to new environments, and it allowed me to be versatile in different styles of play.”

Embracing the Next Challenge

Now, as he begins this new chapter, Serje is fully embracing the high standards and expectations that come with representing York United FC Academy.

“This opportunity is obviously massive, and it’s definitely the biggest one I’ve ever gotten,” he says. “I just hope that I can make the most out of it, and I’m very thankful for the chance. At the end of the season, no matter what happens, I’m sure that I will end the season off as a better player with tons of great lessons and memories.”

A quick, versatile, and direct winger, Serje thrives in attacking situations. His pace, technical ability, and vision allow him to create chances and adapt to different styles of play, making him a valuable asset in any system.

Beyond his personal ambition, Serje sees York United FC Academy as the ideal place to develop.

“I chose this opportunity because of the pathway and the environment, which is something that only York United has,” he says.
