experience to strengthen the team’s backline.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Toronto, ON (November 25, 2024) – AFC Toronto is thrilled to announce the
signing of centre back, Croix Soto (23 year-old) from Houston Dash in the National Women's
Soccer League. (NWSL). As the club's third official signing, Soto has rubbed shoulders with
some of the best players in world football and brings a physical presence to the clubs backline.
“AFC Toronto is committed to building a winning team, and signing Croix Soto is a reflection of
that vision,” said Marko Milanovic, Head Coach of AFC Toronto. “Croix is a player who brings
not only defensive skill but also a winner’s mentality and professionalism. Her experience in the
NWSL will be invaluable as we establish our identity and goals for the upcoming season. We
are excited to see the impact she will have both on and off the pitch.”
Soto, originally from Pasadena, California, has built a solid track record that reflects both her
collegiate and professional accomplishments. As a former All-Pac-12 honoree at the University
of Oregon, she contributed to key defensive milestones, including the school’s record nine
shutouts in 2021, showcasing her steady presence on the field. After graduation, Soto made the
leap from Collegiate Soccer to the NWSL where she signed with Kansas City Current ahead of
the 2023 NWSL season. In her first year in the NWSL, Soto made 12 appearances including 8
starts for Kansas City Current’s defence. Her performances for Kansas City Current caught the
attention of Houston Dash who moved to bring Soto to Texas for the 2024 season.
