York United FC can confirm the signing of Canadian midfielder Joshua Lopez to a Development Contract.
The 16-year-old can operate centrally or out wide and boasts some excellent composure, a fine touch and wonderful
finishing ability.
A native of Toronto, ON, Lopez was previously with Vaughan Azzurri and has also spent time with the TFC Academy.
The teenager's official unveiling follows on the footsteps of another Development Contract signing, Lukas Pareja,
who made the bench for The Nine Stripes' most recent fixture last Friday night against Valour FC.
"We're excited by Josh's arrival and he brings plenty of pedigree owing to his time with Vaughan Azzurri,"
says Ricardo Pasquel, General Manager and President of York United FC.
"So many young players in our immediate surroundings are blessed to have such incredible coaches and mentors.
It means that a 16-year-old like Josh can walk into one of our training sessions and not look out of place.
That foundation is crucial. A strong connection to our communities is important for us and we're grateful to all
of our local clubs for their support and guidance since we've arrived here. We're looking forward to seeing Josh
develop and blossom under the tutelage of our technical staff."
