TEENAGE DREAM
York United FC can confirm the signing of Lukas Pareja to a Developmental Contract.
An attacking midfielder, 17-year-old Pareja - a product of North Mississauga Soccer Club - was most recently with
Cavalry FC's Under-21 squad.
Possessing excellent awareness and technical ability, Pareja is an exciting local talent - aligning perfectly with
The Nine Stripes' commitment to identifying and developing elite young players.
"We are very happy to secure Lukas and look forward to curating his development, monitoring his growth and preparing
him for what's next in his career," says Ricardo Pasquel, General Manager and President, York United FC.
Lukas Pareja, pictured here with Silviu Butnaru, York United FC's Director of Scouting and Development, has already
been involved with training this week.
"Our scouting department - led by Jorge Villalpando and Silviu Butnaru - has been working tirelessly to ensure we're
watching as many talented youngsters as possible. It's particularly satisfying to sign a thrilling local product like
Lukas but we firmly believe in the talent pool that exists right across the country. Affording domestic young players
the chance to sign for a pro club - regardless of age - is a key objective for us. As far as we're concerned, we have
only scratched the surface and the potential here in Canada is limitless."
