York United FC can confirm that Kadin Martin-Pereux has been removed from the club’s primary roster and placed on the inactive list due to a season-ending injury.

The 21-year-old had built on an encouraging debut campaign for the club and contributed impressively across 14 appearances in 2024, tallying two assists in the process. Then, prior to the club’s clash with Pacific FC in his hometown of Victoria, BC on August 2nd, Martin-Pereux suffered an ACL injury during a training session and has already started his rehabilitation program following successful surgery.

Per Canadian Premier League rules, the club will receive cap relief on any compensation owed to Martin-Pereux for the remainder of the year but he will not be eligible to return in 2024.

“Injuries are part of the game but it’s never easy to lose a valuable player that’s been a key part of our season,” says Ricardo Pasquel, General Manager and President of York United FC.

“Kadin is an exciting talent and we’re here to support him through every stage of his rehabilitation. He remains a crucial member of our group and we’re looking forward to getting him back on the field as soon as possible.”

“In terms of the roster, we’re happy with the additions we’ve made and the calibre of player we’ve brought in. It’s a group that is extremely competitive, driven and spirited, and with six regular season games remaining, we trust these guys implicitly to deliver for us.”
