Dynamic Duo: Babouli and Mora named Player and Manager of the Month for July
The captain has contributed three goals and one assist while the new coach masterminded three wins and a draw.

DOUBLE TROUBLE

The month of July was pretty good for York United FC.

Three wins and one draw brought the team to the cusp of top spot in the league, with a 2-1 road victory in Calgary and a blistering 4-1 home success over provincial rivals Atletico Ottawa the standout moments.

So perhaps it's little surprise that the latest Canadian Premier League monthly awards are dominated by The Nine Stripes.

Mo Babouli has walked away with Player of the Month while Benjamín Mora has been crowned Manager of the Month.

Three of Babouli's five league goals this season came in July, with the attacker adding an assist also during that time. He cropped up at particularly clutch moments too. In Calgary, he curled home a magnificent free-kick to open the scoring. The tough away assignment against Vancouver saw Babouli grab the first goal again, while he also conjured a superb solo effort against Atletico that effectively sealed a crucial win and put York 3-1 to the good.

MORABALL

For Mora meanwhile, it's been an instant impact.

Nine games in charge, five wins and three draws. His unbeaten run currently sits at five games, with four of those games taking place in July.

The results have seen the side progress to second in the table and firmly be in the mix for the regular season championship with 11 fixtures remaining.
