July 6, 2024...Match Preview York United vs HFX Wanderers (from York United press release)
MATCH PREVIEW York United are seeking to bounce back against Halifax Wanderers at home today after their last encounter ended in defeat. The Nine Stripes, undeservedly, lost 1-0 at Valour FC despite doing everything right in the game. Wanderers are unbeaten in five consecutive league matches and their form is a concern for York United Head Coach Benjamin Mora. "They’re doing well - not only the last two games - but the last five games because they haven't lost. So that's a sign that they are improving as a team, they are getting the points and they are climbing in the standings so it's important to know that it's going to be a very difficult game, " said Mora in his pre-game conference. "We're going to try to face this game as a final, like always. We know how they play. We know how they have been doing things regarding the tactical disposition of the players. We have much respect for Halifax but we're going to try to do our things so we can handle situations properly in our home especially. " The last time these two sides met at York Lions Stadium was in May and it was the hosts who won 2-1 thanks to goals from Austin Ricci Dennis Salanovic. The Gaffer's confidence, backed by rigorous training and a well-prepared squad, sets the stage for an exciting encounter against Halifax. Mora expects his team to deliver the high-flying performance. He said: "We are evolving in concepts, we are setting the ways that we want to continue the progress of the model, of the system, of the way we want to play in the different phases. Players are improving individually. They understand the requirements and the parameters of what we need and we're doing good, we're doing fine. We are motivated. We had a very good week so let's hope tomorrow is a good day. " Ridwan Ibrahim Asantback to 2024 York United FC menu
