York United FC is excited to announce a formal partnership with iconic Liga MX Club de Futbol Monterrey.

The agreement will see both teams collaborate across various aspects of their respective organizations, with a focus on best practices in scouting and coaching.

Eligible players will have the opportunity to undergo trials in Monterrey and Toronto, while a comprehensive coaching visit will also take place south of the border where guests will have the chance to attend a Liga MX game at Estadio BBVA, study training sessions and youth matches at the Centro de Entrenamiento BBVA, the training facilities of Club de Futbol Monterrey, and participate in numerous educational discussions with Monterrey staff. As part of the deal, York United FC’s technical team will visit Monterrey twice per year.

"It’s wonderful to collaborate with Club de Futbol Monterrey on such a progressive project," says Eduardo Pasquel, Chief Executive Officer, York United FC.

"We have a vision for our club and big plans for the future. And this partnership is an example of the ambition that drives us every day at Game Plan Sports Group. Getting to access the wisdom and experience of a top-class organization on a consistent basis will only serve to push us higher. We look forward to working closely with Club de Futbol Monterrey and strengthening the bond between two beautiful countries, two magnificent cities and two passionate clubs."

The Nine Stripes and Rayados will also collaborate on special scouting events in Canada, with some elite talent potentially getting the chance to travel to Monterrey and take the next steps in their career.

'A MOMENTOUS MOMENT'

"This is a momentous moment in the history of our Club," says Ricardo Pasquel, General Manager and President, York United FC.

"Club de Futbol Monterrey is one of the biggest names, not just in CONCACAF, but in world football. To become partners with such an iconic organization is a thrilling development and another example of our commitment to bringing York United FC to the next level. One of the key aspects of this deal is how it can impact the domestic game in Canada and provide further opportunities to the best talent in this country: both players and coaches."

"Then there’s the other side of the partnership. We’ve already seen the impact of Club de Futbol Monterrey on our club during the 2024 campaign. Both Josué Martínez and Orlando Botello are on loan with us this season from Rayados and have made 24 appearances between them in all competitions. So, accessing talented young players from within the Monterrey organization can help us enormously."

"Ultimately, you always want to surround yourself with the best. It doesn’t get any better than Club de Futbol Monterrey and we’re incredibly excited by what we can achieve together. In global sports, you’re always paying attention to how the elite constantly evolve and improve. Now, with this new partnership, we get to have a front-row seat. Game Plan Sports Group has always believed in the potential of soccer in Canada and we’re thrilled that Club de Futbol Monterrey feels the same."

José Antonio Noriega, Sports President of Club de Futbol Monterrey, explained the objective of the agreement with York United.

"Our Club and York United are institutions that are always seeking for the highest achievements in every competition and we also share values. This agreement will help us continue developing talent and reaching more fans," said Noriega.

Nicolás Martellotto, Youth Development Director of Club de Futbol Monterrey, detailed the way in which both institutions will collaborate.

"In our Youth Academies, we aim to develop not only good athletes but also great individuals. This agreement allows us to continue nurturing our players so they can contribute to a better society," expressed Martellotto.
