COUNTRY FEEDBACK: MATTHEW BALDISIMO AND DENNIS SALANOVIC CALLED UP FOR INTERNATIONAL DUTY The pair are set to feature for Philippines and Liechtenstein respectively. York United FC midfielder Matthew Baldisimo and winger Dennis Salanovic have been included in the Philippines and Liechtenstein senior squads respectively for some upcoming international fixtures. 26-year-old Baldisimo, who has had to exercise plenty of patience in his quest to make his debut, has been named in the Philippines squad alongside his younger brother Michael, with the team set for a pair of World Cup qualifiers against Iraq. The first assignment takes place on Thursday, March 21st at Basra Stadium before a return clash in Manila five days later. The top two teams in each group will make it through to the third round of World Cup qualifying and also guarantee themselves a place in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. So far, the Philippines have played two games, suffering a loss at home to Vietnam last November before securing a point against Indonesia. Meanwhile, Salanovic and his Liechtenstein team-mates have two friendlies on the horizon. The first pits them against the Faroe Islands on Friday, March 22nd before the group travels to face Latvia on Tuesday, March 26th. The 28-year-old - an exciting off-season acquisition for The Nine Stripes - is hoping to add to his 58 senior caps. © 2024 YORK UNITED FCback to 2024 York United FC menu
