OFFICIAL CLUB STATEMENT ON UNITED FOOTBALL ACADEMY
York United FC is ceasing the exclusive partnership with immediate effect.
OFFICIAL CLUB STATEMENT
In the short time since we took charge at York United FC, we have focused much of our effort on making new connections
within the local soccer community and strengthening the club’s existing relationships in the region.
We believe such consultations are key to accomplishing one of the main goals of this organization: to effectively
invest in the young talent in the Greater Toronto Area and provide those players with a clear and sustainable pathway
to the professional game. We want to ensure that our presence is benefitting as many stakeholders as possible, so that
up-and-coming domestic talent is given every chance to succeed.
As we continue to assess how best to accomplish these goals, we are ceasing our existing, exclusive partnership with
United Football Academy, effective immediately. We would like to recognize all of the important work carried out
by Mark di Cristofaro and everyone associated with United Football Academy. We look forward to continuing discussions
about establishing a new iteration of our relationship that can better fit our vision of a wider reaching approach
to developing young players.
When the time comes, our decision on which best developmental path to take will be made in consultation with members
of the local football community. And we are grateful to those clubs who have - over the past few weeks - offered us their
time and insight as we continue to learn how to make the greatest impact at grassroots level and beyond. We look forward
to continuing those conversations and are excited by the potential for future collaborations.
