Scouting Report
Toronto FC II enters the match in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, just one point ahead of Atlanta with 22.
The visitors from North of the border have had difficulties getting on the scoresheet this season, having only
scored 21 goals which is tied for 27th in MLS NEXT Pro while boasting a –9 goal differential. Players to watch out
for are Hassan Ayari and Charlie Sharp, who have each nabbed four goals this year while Lucas Olguin leads their
squad in assists with three. Like its last two matches, if Atlanta can get active on the offensive end early
and stay composed throughout 90 minutes, three points will be in reach for the home side.
Last Time Out
ATL UTD 2 is fresh off its second straight victory after a 3-2 win over New England Revolution II on Aug. 3. Atlanta
netted three first half goals thanks to Karim Tmimi and Alan Carleton, who bagged his first two professional goals.
Atlanta got on the board early, when in the 13th minute Erik Centeno whipped a cross into the box that met Tmimi who
dove to head the ball over the goal line. Later in the 36th minute, Carleton carried the ball up the pitch to the
opposing 18-yard box before cutting back and getting off a right-footed shot that ricocheted off the post and in.
Just two minutes later, Atlanta forward Rodrigo Neri led a counterattack down the right wing, sliding a pass
to a wide-open Carleton in the box who chipped the keeper for his second of the match. ATL UTD 2 had to withstand
a flurry of second-half attacks from New England, conceding two goals and a penalty that was stopped by Jayden Hibbert,
but ultimately hung on for three points.
