Toronto FC II played out a 1-1 tie against New England Revolution II at the end of 90 minutes at York Lions Stadium
on Friday night, before the visitors triumphed in the MLS NEXT Pro shootout to gain the extra point.
TFC II Head Coach Gianni Cimini made three changes to the starting lineup from last weekend’s home opening win against
FC Cincinnati 2, with Marko Stojadinovic, debutant Charlie Staniland and Dékwon Barrow replacing Tristan Pusztahegyi,
Lucas Olguin and Charlie Sharp.
The Young Reds opened the scoring early when Julian Altobelli cooly slotted past JD Gunn following a pair of headers
from Mark Fisher and Jesús Batiz inside the New England box. Making his 75th TFC II appearance, Altobelli’s 11th goal
for the Young Reds in the sixth minute of play opened his goalscoring account for the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro campaign.
Revs II carved out an equalizer late in stoppage time of the first half, when Marcos Dias scored against the run
of play ensuring the two sides went into the half-time break tied at one apiece.
With both sides unable to find a second half winner, TFC II and New England Revolution II played out their first
MLS NEXT Pro shootout of the season with the visitors taking the extra point on the night in a 5-4 result.
