Scrosoppi clinched the Men’s Premier Division title at the weekend, securing their TELUS Canadian Championship place for 2025.

Champions crowned

After victory in midweek, Scrosoppi headed into their game against ProStars on Saturday knowing three points would be enough to secure the Men’s Premier Division title.

A goal from Tomasz Skublak in each half, and a second clean sheet of the week, gave them the all-important points. At full-time, the team celebrated topping the regular-season standings in back-to-back seasons and lifting the trophy they missed out on last year.

Despite knowing they could no longer become champions, Vaughan Azzurri ended their campaign with a dominant 5-0 victory against Blue Devils. Reshaun Walkes scored four goals for the second consecutive game, taking him to 18 for the season and all-but wrapping up the race for the Golden Boot.

Last chance for points

Elsewhere, North Toronto bounced back from their heavy defeat to Vaughan with a decisive 3-0 win against Alliance United on Friday night. The three points moved North Toronto into the top four ahead of Simcoe County Rovers, and they then tied against Guelph United in a six-goal thriller on Monday and stayed fifth.

Hamilton United and Burlington played out another high-scoring game with Hamilton hoping to get their first win of the season. The game was level heading into stoppage time, but Joseph Nagnonhou found a winner for the Bayhawks.

The result also means that if Burlington can beat the newly-crowned champions Scrosoppi in the Premier’s final game on Wednesday, the Bayhawks would finish in the top half of the table.

More delight for Scrosoppi

Scrosoppi B added to the celebrations by beating Pickering 6-2 in their men’s Pro/Rel Playoff game, earning themselves the chance to be promoted to League1 Ontario’s second tier for the 2025 season.

Men’s L1 Cup Final

As the 2024 Men’s Premier comes to end, we’ve enjoyed plenty of fantastic action and seen more than 400 goals scored across division. The excitement continues this Friday as Vaughan Azzurri take on Simcoe County Rovers in the L1 Men’s Cup Final.
