Simcoe’s women shine against Blue Devils as Burlington’s incredible Men’s Premier run comes to an end.
Fantastic Friday
Most of the action from this matchweek’s Friday-night fixtures came courtesy of the Men’s Championship.
Unionville Milliken moved up to third thanks to a 1-0 win at Pickering following Zuheib Mohamed’s 89th-minute spot kick,
while BVB IA Waterloo played out a goalless tie with Windsor City.
Michael Lee’s leveler meant that TFC Academy secured a 1-1 tie at St Catharines Roma Wolves, and four goals were shared
between North Mississauga and Master’s FA with the game finishing 2-2 thanks to James Arango’s second-half equalizer
for the hosts.
The only game in the women’s top tier saw NDC Ontario stay ahead in the standings with a 2-0 victory over
Alliance United, thanks to goals from Ava Greco and Teegan Melenhorst, and Rush Canada earned their first three-point
haul in the Women’s Championship as they saw off Darby 3-0; Gauri Rawat’s strike nine minutes after the break
sealed victory.

Woodbridge Strikers are up to third in the Women’s Premier Division standings after a 2-0 win at in-form North Mississauga
thanks to goals from April Syme and Maria Poveda.
Scrosoppi’s return to action in the Women’s Championship also saw them move up in their standings. They are now second
after they achieved the same result against Tecumseh United; Ella Cahill and Aalayah Lully with the goals in a 2-0 victory.
Saturday saw ProStars seal their first victory of the 2024 Men’s Premier campaign. Nikolas Blaskovic’s goal three minutes
after the half-time break completed a 2-1 turnaround against bottom-side Sigma.
Also in the men’s top tier, North Toronto tied 1-1 with Blue Devils after Marcus Riviere’s leveler cancelled out
the free-scoring Fadi Salback’s opener.
The only game from the men’s second tier saw Dante D’Oria’s solitary strike, live on League1 Ontario YouTube, seal a 1-0 win
for FC London over Darby, providing the league leaders with a two-point cushion at the top of the table.
In Men’s League2 action this week, Sudbury Cyclones were victorious against Darby and stay second in the Northeast Conference
standings, but Rush Canada and The Borough FC’s games were postponed. Master’s FA were defeated in Women’s League2.
Invincible run ended
Burlington’s perfect start was brought to a dramatic end in the Men’s Premier Division; they dropped points for the first
time this campaign following a 2-1 home defeat to Vaughan Azzurri with goals from Adamo Pantaleo and Raheem Rose sealing
the win.
Scrosoppi are now hot on the Bayhawks’ heels after thumping Simcoe County Rovers 4-0, with four different players
on the scoresheet, while third-placed Woodbridge Strikers fired five past the winless Hamilton United with Luca Pinto
netting once again.
Alliance United won 2-1 at Guelph United thanks to goals from Pablo Perez and Atchuthan Sivananthan, moving the men
in orange into the top-half of the standings.
The action from the Women’s Premier saw Simcoe County Rovers defeat rock-bottom Blue Devils 5-1; Aliya Gomes’ brace helping
the visitors move up to seventh in the table.
Elsewhere, FC London tied 1-1 with Vaughan Azzurri in an intriguing battle between two sides in the top half of the division,
while Emma Warren’s winning goal on the hour mark sealed a nervy 3-2 win for North Toronto at Guelph United.
BVB IA Waterloo are up to third in the Women’s Championship after a 2-1 success over ProStars with goals from Abby Kraemer
and Sophia Lezizidis, while Pickering won by the same scoreline at Burlington thanks to strikes from Hailey Walsh
and Carolina Grzesniak.
Olivia Allen’s winning goal 22 minutes from time saw Unionville Milliken seal a 1-0 success at Hamilton United, wrapping
up another great weekend in League1 Ontario.
