Hey Oak Ridges Soccer Club, Big Dreams Start Here.

Oak Ridges, ON (August 30, 2018) – As the Technical Director of Oak Ridges SC, Sam Foti
sees York 9 FC and the Canadian Premier League as a pathway for local players to develop
and showcase their skills in a professional environment.

“It will give something for our players to aspire to and it’s something they can look
forward to if that’s a possibility for them,” Foti said.

“It’s the next step from youth soccer to the professional ranks as we don’t have
a professional environment other than (Toronto FC). “So, it will be an opportunity
for York Region players to get to that next level.”

For Foti, the goal at Oak Ridges is to develop local players who end up playing
professionally. In terms of York 9 FC, Foti believes it would a great achievement
if any of his players are tracked and eventually signed by a CPL club.

“If any of our players are good enough to get to that next level then that would
be a feather in our hat as club that we have been able to get a player to that
point, so they can pursue their dream,” he added.

What’s more, Foti views former Canadian international Jimmy Brennan’s appointment
as head coach of York 9 FC as a positive ahead of the CPL’s April 2019 launch.
Brennan was recently the Executive Director of Aurora FC, which also operates
a club in League1 Ontario. Before that, the Newmarket, Ont. native’s post-playing
career included various coaching roles with TFC’s first team and academy.

“I think Jimmy has a lot of experience at the professional level. He’s played
in Canada and oversees,” Foti said.

“He knows how to create that type of environment having been a player and a coach.
In that regard, his experience will go a long way in getting York 9 FC off
the ground.”

York 9 FC is currently accepting membership deposits at york9fc.canpl.ca ahead
of the CPL’s inaugural 2019 season.

The club has vowed to work closely with the nine municipalities that make
up York Region, as well as the 15 clubs that reside inside its boundaries.
With aspirations to eventually construct its own venue in York Region, the CPL
club will play its home games at York University.
