July 12, 2019...Toronto FC II vs South Georgia Tormenta FC game report (from USLLeagueOne.com)
Gameday Report: July 12, Week 16 By USLLeagueOne.com Staff, 07/12/19, 6:15PM EDT TFC II closes gap on top four with win over Tormenta FC toronto fc ii (3) v south georgia tormenta fc (0) Match Center Toronto FC II defeated South Georgia Tormenta FC, 3-0, Friday afternoon at BMO Training Ground. Key Events Matthew Srbely opened the scoring in the 28th minute after Griffin Dorsey found him in space behind the Tormenta defense. Srbely collected Dorsey’s pass, beat a defender, and smashed a shot into the upper right hand corner of Pablo Jara’s goal to score his third of the season. Toronto FC II doubled its lead ten minutes later through Jordan Perruzza. Jayden Nelson found Perruzza’s slashing run with a clever pass to put him through on goal. After being played in behind, Perruzza made no mistake, finishing at the near post to score his sixth goal of the season and move him into a tie with Forward Madison FC’s Don Smart for fourth place in the Golden Boot race. Dorsey played provider again as TFC II put the match out of reach with another goal in the 78th minute. Dorsey clipped a ball behind Tormenta’s defense and into the penalty area for Patrick Bunk-Andresen to run on to. With no pressure on him, Bunk-Andersen calmly tucked the first-time finish past an onrushing Jara to score his fourth goal of the season. With Friday’s win, TFCII remains unbeaten at home this season. Toronto is 4-0-2 at BMO Training Ground and will have more home matches left on its schedule than any other League One club at the end of Week 16. The win over Tormenta keeps TFCII in fifth place in the table, creating just a three point gap between second and fifth. After being shut out on Friday afternoon, Tormenta FC has now failed to score a goal from the run of play in three straight matches. At the other end of the field, Head Coach John Miglarese’s side has followed up its 500+ minute clean sheet streak with back-to-back matches in which they’ve conceded multiple goals. There was little current Golden Glove leader Pablo Jara could do about any of Toronto’s three goals on Friday afternoon, as his backs let the opposing forwards get in behind them far too easily with regularity. Tormenta remains in second place, but have opened the door for Lansing Ignite FC and/or Chattanooga Red Wolves FC to overtake them with positive results this weekend. South Georgia will look to right the ship and make up ground on the league-leaders next Saturday when they head to Frisco for their first run-in with North Texas SC. 4-1-4-1 4-2-3-1 Toronto FC II South Georgia Tormenta 3 0 July 12, 2019 4:00 PM Venue BMO Training Ground Attendance 113 Referee Brad Doubrough Toronto FC II 30 Fillion GK 19 Dorsey DF 57 Mohammed DF 43' Yellow card 61 Romeo DF 74' Yellow card 42 Bunk-Andersen DF 78' GOAL 43 Ovalle (C) MF 63' Yellow card 39 Petrasso MF 86' subbed out 59 Okello MF 50 Srbely MF 28' GOAL 53 Nelson MF 75' subbed out 77 Perruzza FW 38' GOAL, 88' subbed out Substitutes 90 Silva 36 Ramos Mingo 81 Antonoglou 35 Essoussi 58 Faria 75' subbed in 64 Hundal 88' subbed in 98 Marshall-Rutty 86' subbed in Manager Rabasca South Georgia Tormenta FC 1 Jara (C) GK 21 Arslan DF 67' subbed out 3 Antley DF 5 Phelps DF 13 Knutson DF 8 Vinyals MF 11 Dennis MF 6 Gomez MF 10 Micaletto MF 14 Morrell MF 9 Rowe FW 51' subbed out Substitutes 29 Reynares 18 O'Sullivan 20 Saint-Vil 67' subbed in 27 Tristan De Loach 7 Pando 16 Jackson 51' subbed in Manager Miglarese TFC SGT 44.4% Possession 55.6% 44.3% Duels success rate 55.7% 33.3% Aerial duels won 66.7% 13 Interceptions 14 2 Offsides 6 4 Corners 5 402 Passes 512 62 Long passes 68 84.3% Passing accuracy 86.1% 74.7% Passing acc in opp half 74.3% 13 Crosses 17 46.2% Crossing accuracy 17.6% 3 Goals 0 16 Shots 16 5 Shots on target 4 1 Blocked shots 1 6 Shots outside the box 6 10 Shots inside the box 10 31.3% Shooting accuracy 25.0% 13 Tackles 20 84.6% Tackles success rate 65.0% 22 Clearances 8 16 Fouls conceded 11 3 Yellow cards 0 0 Red cards 0
