June 19, 2019...Lansing Ignite vs Toronto FC II game report (from USLLeagueOne.com)
Gameday Report: June 19, Week 13 By USLLeagueOne.com Staff, 06/19/19, 9:15PM EDT Lansing defeats Toronto, climbs into top four lansing ignite fc (1) v toronto fc ii (0) Match Center Key Events: Lansing Ignite defeated Toronto FC II, 1-0, Wednesday night at Cooley Law School Stadium. Steeve Saint-Duc scored the game’s only goal in the 61st minute after Alex Bruce played him through. Saint-Duc showed a good turn of pace to outrun Toronto’s center backs and burst into the penalty area before firing a low, left-footed shot past goalkeeper Kevin Silva to score his first goal of the season. Takeaways: MOVING ON UP: Wednesday's win over Toronto moves Lansing into fourth place in the League One standings with 17 points, leaving just a six point gap between the Ignite and first-place North Texas SC. Lansing will have the opportunity to further insert themselves into the race to catch the league-leaders on Saturday when they host Orlando City B. With Toronto idle this weekend, a second consecutive win at Cooley Law School Stadium would see Lansing leapfrog TFC II in the standings and move into third place. All three clubs above Lansing in the standings have games in hand on the Ignite, but Wednesday’s victory will put pressure on North Texas and South Georgia Tormenta FC to answer with wins of their own this weekend. SELSO SAINT SPEED: Steeve ‘Selso’ Saint-Duc looked dangerous up top all night, beating TFC II’s attempt at an offside trap with alarming regularity. Saint-Duc’s first goal of the season was enough to help Lansing take all three points at home, but he’ll feel he should have added more to the scoreline. The Haitian forward completed five dribbles, had three key passes, and got off two shots. Ignite fans should be encouraged by Saint-Duc’s performance and expect sharpness in the final third to increase as the season wears on. DEFENSIVELY SOUND: Apart from a hiccup in which they conceded three goals to Toronto FC II in Canada a couple weeks ago, Lansing has been very strong defensively over the course of the last month. Stefan Cleveland and the Ignite have earned three clean sheets in their previous five matches, with Wednesday night’s coming against the club that has scored the second most goals in League One this season. The Chicago Fire loanee has now earned three shutouts in six matches played this season and looks to be growing in confidence each week. HOPE ON THE HORIZON: TFC II has put in quality performances over the last month and shouldn’t let Wednesday’s result take away from that. Despite failing to find the back of the net, Toronto continued to look dangerous in the final third with Jacob Shaffelburg and Griffin Dorsey getting themselves in favorable positions on either wing. With six of their next seven matches at home, TFC II will turn towards next week with the hope that they can continue to challenge Tormenta FC and North Texas for the top spot in the standings. 3-4-2-1 4-1-4-1 Lansing Ignite Toronto FC II 1 0 June 19, 2019 7:00 PM Referee Becky Pagan Venue Cooley Law School Stadium Attendance 2,287 Lansing Ignite FC 30 Cleveland GK 4 Stoneman DF 5 Fricke (C) DF 17 Coiffic DF 14 Moon MF 25 Hollingsworth MF 21 Cerda MF 10 Gómez MF 9 Lopez-Espin FW 59' subbed out 23 Moshobane FW 86' subbed out 11 Saint-Duc FW 28' Yellow card, 61' GOAL, 78' subbed out Substitutes 1 Kirk 8 Carr 78' subbed in 12 Silva 2 Williams 19 Botello Faz 86' subbed in 20 Bruce 59' subbed in, 87' subbed in 7 Rafael Mentzingen Manager Miller Toronto FC II 90 Silva GK 88 West DF 48 Campbell DF 36 Ramos Mingo DF 27' Yellow card 42 Bunk-Andersen DF 43 Ovalle (C) MF 19 Dorsey MF 37 Waja MF 68' subbed out 50 Srbely MF 89' Yellow card 84 Shaffelburg MF 64 Hundal FW Substitutes 30 Fillion 49 Boskovic 35 Essoussi 68' subbed in Manager Rabasca Match Statistics LAN TFC 41.2% Possession 58.8% 50.0% Duels success rate 50.0% 55.2% Aerial duels won 44.8% 18 Interceptions 7 4 Offsides 0 4 Corners 5 351 Passes 494 74 Long passes 76 75.2% Passing accuracy 77.9% 63.0% Passing acc in opp half 67.0% 10 Crosses 17 30.0% Crossing accuracy 35.3% 1 Goals 0 8 Shots 11 3 Shots on target 2 2 Blocked shots 2 2 Shots outside the box 1 6 Shots inside the box 10 37.5% Shooting accuracy 18.2% 23 Tackles 33 82.6% Tackles success rate 66.7% 20 Clearances 7 11 Fouls conceded 14 2 Yellow cards 2 0 Red cards 0
