Final Score:....Toronto FC......1.....Vancouver Whitecaps......2.......

Attendance was announced as 23886 on this overcast and damp day. The people beside me were strangers
as the season seat holders had ditched their tickets. The weather turned out pretty good for this time
of year after the morning was cold. A few drops of rain more than two hours before the game had stopped
but may have killed off much of the walk up crowd.

So the result of this game combined with the Montreal Impact winning (unknown to me before the TFC game
ended) officially eliminates TFC. There had been a 1 or 2 % chance of making the playoffs for quite
a few weeks now but each time TFC won Montreal or DC United would win to keep them at those poor odds.

I had got here very early to hear team president Bill Manning and GM Tim Bezbatchenko discuss the
current season. Too many injuries and not enough depth for their busy schedule were their main reasons
for their poor standing. After that it was a struggle getting to the other side of the stadium
as my ticket had been scanned so I couldn't get back in.

Once again Jonathan Osorio was the only Canadian on TFC to start. Jay Chapman subbed in at 64 minutes
but was almost invisible compared to Lucas Janson who he replaced. Bill Manning had said the Canadians
weren't good enough. Ashtone Morgan was the only other Canadian to make the bench.

Russell Teibert scored the opening goal at 3 minutes and except for last week's come from behind win over
New England, TFC hadn't won this season when the other team scored first. Teibert is from Niagara Falls
Ontario and was in the TFC Academy in their early years. His performance of taking the cornerkicks and
a few freekicks partly overshadowed Canadian Alphonso Davies their phenom who was signed to Bayern Munich
for next season but has been allowed to play out the MLS season. He showed some speed but also some poor
passing and being checked off the ball.

TFC played down a man when Gregory van der Wiel took a second Yellow card for a hip check on the edge
of the TFC box at 65 minutes. He upended Jordy Reyna on that play and also on his first Yellow
at 27 minutes.

Jozy Altidore scored TFC's lone goal on a Penalty kick. He started on the bench today entering
at 57 minutes as his last two games he was injured in each game and TFC had to burn off an early substitute.
Other than the goal he wasn't very effective as passes to him were sent too far forward and he was
effectively covered.

Lucas Janson got the start in place of Altidore and played well. He had a 7 yard shot at 15 minutes
that was stopped point blank by the sliding goalie or the game could have been quite different.

Sebastian Giovinco always looked dangerous but he had some less than stellar shots that fans have
come to expect.

Among Whitecaps players Kei Kamara played well with speed and good crossing. Jordan Mutch was
an important sub coming in at 74 minutes and rolling a centering pass along the 6 yard box for
Kamara's 77 minute goal. Doneil Henry was burned for a Penalty kick call when he slid to block a kick
and the ball hit his arm. This reminded me of similar plays years ago when he played for TFC.

Alphonso Davies was named as one of the pregame 'TFC's Key To The Match' Maria P advised us this
is the last time we'll see him at BMO Field just five minutes after she did an onfield interview
with Canadian National Team head coach John Herdman for the CONCACAF Nations Cup game against Dominica
here in just over a week and he dropped names of some of the Canadians that are expected to play.
This just proves she reads from a script.

TFC now goes on the road for two meaningless games. There should be no worry of Michael Bradley being
too tired after playing one or both US International friendlies or Sebastian Giovinco regaining
an invite to the Italian national team after three years nor any of the four Canadian TFC players
staying home to play. (Jonathan Osorio, Jay Chapman, Tosaint Ricketts, and Ashtone Morgan).

Vancouver hangs on to their playoff dream a little longer. There were some scenarios I heard where
a tie in today's game would eliminate both Canadian teams.

Our cardboard ticket today was titled 'The Cup Winner' and had a picture of a happy Jozy Altidore
after he scored in the MLS Cup. This is not the first time they've had an ironic scene on this
year's tickets.
