Result and details of the Saturday August 25, 2018 MLS game between Toronto FC and Montreal Impact
played at BMO Field in Toronto at 8:00PM.

6 min...TFC Sebastian Giovinco GOAL...TFC Morrow sends low pass upfield from 40 yards on left to Giovinco
charging up middle behind Imp Rudy Camacho and chips 15 yarder over sliding goalie Evan Bush at 12 yards
and the ball bounces into right side of open net.

21 min...TFC Sebastian Giovinco GOAL...TFC Justin Morrow at 35 yard line on left after short run rolls
pass forward for Giovinco at 20 yard line on far left and he rolls ball under upraised leg of Imp Rod Fanni
for charging TFC Jonathan Osorio on left edge of 6 yard box. He runs out of room on left end line with
Imp Ken Krolicki pressuring him and turns and rolls pass to charging Giovinco cutting in from left and
he eludes retreating Imp Samuel Piette while running to center and cuts low 10 yard shot up the middle
between four defenders and diving goalie to left side of net.

28 min...TFC Jonathan Osorio GOAL...TFC Sebastian Giovinco passes up middle from 45 yards
to TFC Lucas Janson at 25 yards who recovers off deflection off defender and rolls short pass forward
to Osorio at 20 yards who runs forward on right and chips 12 yarder over sliding goalie at 8 yards
into left side of open net.

29 min...Mon Alejando Silva GOAL...Imp Saphir Taider rush down center and at 30 yards rolls pass forward
and right to charging Silva who gets to it at 15 yard line on right side of box and one-touches blasts
into short top corner of net past upraised arm of sliding goalie Alex Bono at 3 yards.

Final Score:...Toronto FC.......3.....Montreal Impact........1........

Attendance was announced as 27294. There were a lot of strangers here today. It had rained
a few different times during the afternoon. I got home just minutes before it started raining again.

Our ticket got us free admission to the Canadian National Exhibition. My only problem with this
is because the game ended at 10:00pm and the buildings close at that time there was no time
to buy anything. Because of the restrictions of bringing in stuff into BMO Field I didn't expect
I'd be able to bring anything inside and try to cram it under my seat. I was't going to buy steak
knives or anything dangerous which would have caused security concerns but I passed on buying some
new clothes. This was one of the few times when the visitor's section had more than a few
spectators with Impact fans up in Section 204.

Man of the Match (who is always a TFC player) was Sebastian Giovinco which was an easy choice
because of his two goals. A stat I saw after the game listed that Giovinco's second goal was
the 500th TFC goal in MLS regular season play.

There was a pregame tribute to Jonathan Osorio for his 200th TFC game. His goal today also tied
Dwayne De Rosario for the must TFC goals scored by a Canadian with 33 goals. It was also a milestone
for assistant referee Joe Fletcher. I asked him exactly what it was when I saw him at the Allstate
Soccer Show in Downsview the next day. It was his "100th MLS Regular Season game".

TFC did a fair job of killing the game off from the start of the second half but from 80 minutes
onward the game was played in the TFC half.

Impact had three goals called back offside then TFC had the same happen to them one minute after
the third call against Montreal.

The game wasn't really rough considering it was a derby game with referee Mark Geiger giving out
only one Yellow card to Imp Bacary Sagna at 61 minutes for injurying TFC Ashtone Morgan who had only
been on the field for one minute. TFC 'injuries' to Sebastian Giovinco and Lucas Janson looked suspicious
as they were being subbed out anyway and it helped slow down play and kill time.

This was the only time Montreal is scheduled to be in Toronto this year. Other years they meet in the
Canadian Championships either at the semi-final or final level but this year Vancouver knocked out
Montreal early. It is unlikely that both teams are going to make the playoffs. One or the other
or maybe neither is the most likely.

Quincy Amarikwa now plays for Montreal after playing for TFC for the last part of 2012 then having
multiple seasons with Chicago Fire and San Jose Earthquakes (for a second time) before joining Montreal
earlier this month. He had a few chances with crosses sent into the box.

TFC Victor Vazquez was holding his hip or back of this leg early and may have been a reason he was subbed
out at 60 minutes.

TFC goalie Alex Bono had to be sharp with two great saves at 39 and 84 minutes. Impact's Alejandro Silva
bent a 20 yard freekick from the left that Bono stopped on the top left corner with a hand up and
a defender cleared. Impact's Bacary Sagna flick an 8 yard header and Bono flew right to bat the ball
away for a cornerkick.

He did make one mistake in second half injury time when he drifted left for a cross in a crowd of players
but TFC Drew Moor bailed him out with a header to save a goal at the 3 yard line.

57 minutes had Imp Silva cross from 20 yards on the right to Imp Taider who can't turn a header
on a pop up at 2 yards on the left post. 63 minutes had Imp Piatti lead a 3 on 3 rush with TFC Osorio
in pursuit from the center line and he rolls a 22 yard shot from the left just wide right of the post.

85 minutes had Sagna cross from 25 yards on the right and Amarikwa missed on a bicycle kick at 10 yards
in the middle. The ball was partially cleared and Imp Samuel Piette blasted a 30 yarder well over the net.
89 minutes had TFC Michael Bradley take a 30 yard freekick from right has charging TFC Jonathan Osorio head
a 10 yarder onto the roof of the net. Injury time had Imp Rod Fanni take a 45 yard freekick had goalie
Bono come out to get a hand to but an Imp player shot from 12 yards then had the ball headed away.

Tonight was 'Croatian Heritage Night' at the stadium--an event that started at 5:00pm. Some fans
wearing Croatian jerseys arrived at 6:50pm and expected to get in by budding in line from us regulars
who were lined up for us to get in at 7:00pm (one hour before game time is when the gates open) but
they were sent back in line even after giving the security team a tough time.

Atlanta United won last night (Friday) so that meant TFC had to win all ten of their remaining games
including their home game against Atlanta for them to tie them if Atlanta doesn't earn another point this
season (and most of the top three teams in the East and Dallas seldom win) for them to retain their
Supporter's Shield or that heavy plate will be lost.

TFC and Montreal have the same bank sponsor which looks weird taking a close look at their uniforms.

'Three keys to the game' on the video board before the game had 2. as 'the dubut (sic) of Lucas Janson'.
I think the Argentinian Janson can fit in well with this team although it will make even less playing
time for the Canadians.

I was upset that only Jonathan Osorio for TFC and Samuel Piette for Impact were the only Canadian starters
in the game. (I would have eventually noticed but read the tweet from reporter Neil Davidson). These numbers
are getting worse than their early years. The Canadian national team will not get better with just three
Canadian teams with no Canadian requirements. MLS play has no minimum Canadian content rules like the Canadian
Championships of three player minimum. Wow. Only eight months until the debut of the Canadian Premier League.

TFC plays expansion team Los Angeles FC next Saturday but before then they have a road trip to Portland to play
the Timbers on Wednesday night. So both teams have to make a continental wide flight to get here.
