Result and details of the Wednesday May 9, 2018 MLS game between Toronto FC and Seattle Sounders played at BMO Field in Toronto at 7:30PM.

24 min...Seattle Will Bruin GOAL...TFC Sebastian Giovinco can't win a Penalty kick just inside
Sounders box when he goes down too easily on a 1 on 3 rush and Sounders Cristian Roldan clears
ball upfield to Sounders Magnus Eikrem at 65 yard line on right sideline. Eikrem runs forward
near sideline and sidesteps TFC Michael Bradley at center line and cuts to middle around
TFC Marky Delgago and then sends pass from 45 yard line forward and to center which eludes lunge
of TFC Gergory van der Wiel where charging Bruin receives it at 33 yard line and dribbles forward
and to left to prevent van der Wiel cutting him off. Bruin from 15 yards on left sends shot just
under the bar to center of the net over goalie Alex Bono sliding at 6 yards.

39 min...TFC Jonathan Osorio GOAL...TFC Victor Vazquez chips pass forward from 30 yards and
TFC Sebastian Giovinco steps behind defender to receive ball at 12 yard line on slight right
and from just outside top of 6 yard box hooks midair ball over jumping goalie Stefan Frei over
to left where charging Osorio heads ball on left from 5 yards past defender Gustav Svensson
on goal line with goalie still out of position.

53 min...Seattle Handwalla Bwana GOAL...Sounders Waylon Francis throw-in from TFC 45 yard line
on left is to Sounders Will Bruin at 35 yard line on left. He one-touches back to Sounders
Cristian Roldan at 45 yards on left who quickly sends it back to him. Bruin turns and rolls
ball forward up left for charging Bwana. Bwana receives ball at 15 yards in middle as he was
cutting towards goal and yards and runs forward and rolls in 15 yarder from slight right past
sliding goalie at 13 yards and into center of net.

Final Score:....Toronto FC....1....Seattle Sounders......2.....

Attendance was announced as 26,089 on this mild evening. The crowd eventually filled in but
the game didn't really kick off until 7:55pm. I think that was the TSN network had given
them a two and a half hour block because their channels TSN 1,3,4,5 were supposed to have
game 5 of the basketball playoffs between Toronto Raptors and Cleveland Cavalliers but the
Cavs swept the Raptors in 4 games straight. TSN flipped the soccer from TSN 2—a good thing
I double checked or I would have recorded the wrong channel...TSN 2 ended up with some non-
Toronto Blue Jay baseball game. There was a long pregame show but fans were still arriving
late from a work night in the never ending traffic jam of the downtown.

Man of the Match (who is always a TFC player) was named as Jonathan Osorio. Well he did
score the goal so he was the obvious choice. Sounders goalie Stefan Frei was the star for
me with being at the right angle for shots and making them look easy.

Wow! There was a time when there were five Canadians on the field for TFC at the same time.
Ashtone Morgan, Jay Chapman, Jonathan Osorio were starters. Midfielder Ryan Telfer came
in at halftime, forwards Jordan Hamilton (58') (who replaced Jay Chapman which meant their
goal/assist play in their last game against Philadelphia couldn't happen tonight)
and Tosaint Ricketts (69') were also eventually subbed in so for the last 21 minutes plus
injury time we had it. Sub restrictions of three meant that young Canadian Liam Fraser
had to stay on the bench.

Having six Canadians in the game tonight made me happy until I realized the next night while
attending the launch of 'York9' of the new Canadian Premier League starting next spring
which may have six or more Canadians on the field as a minimum and not just because so many
of the TFC American stars are currently out injured.

The result was a surprise to me. Both teams met five months ago for the MLS Cup and TFC
dominated that game. I know TFC has a not of injuries with six of their defenders out
of action but the Sounders are the only team this season that has it worse as all their
designated players are out and supposedly their regular starting forwards are also out.
Clint Dempsey (a DP) was not on tonight's roster neither.

Hadwalla Bwana scored and is one of the Sounders 'home grown' players. He is only
18 and was born in Kenya.

Since I sit at midfield and with my bad eyesight I can't be a judge of offside calls
so I'll have to judge the complaints on TV and the papers of coach Greg Vanney who said
Bwana's goal was offside but there were complaints on offside calls that were called and
those that weren't called. The crowd booed the referee's decisions and the Sounders stalling
tactics at the end but referee Ted Unkel did ad four minutes of injury time for the second half.

TFC has made changes to their Cup winning team but Auro and van der wiel were meant
as replacements to last year's starting defenders.

Sounders defender Jordan McCreary was on TFC II last season and was released by the team
as Americnas who come to the team almost always from the MLS draft get one or two years
with TFC II before being cut loose. Mitch Taintor had the same happed to him but during
the CCL run TFC signed him to a one game contract from his new USL team, Sacramento Republic,
to a spot on the roster. That game against Houston Dynamo is his only MLS appearance!

I've heard conflicting reports that the Sounders are not going to compete any more with
the big spending teams like Toronto and New York City but then I've heard they're going
to get an expensive designated player in the summer transfer window.

Sebastian Giovinco didn't score tonight despite having some good chances. He did have
and assist on the Osorio goal but has been limited to one goal in MLS play this season.

Sounders had only won once this season and are last in the West along with San Jose Earthquakes.

Other MLS results mean TFC doesn't lose ground in the one other West vs East match as Kansas
City beat Atlanta. The East vs East games all had winners so TFC lose ground and all those
teams are ahead of Toronto.

TFC's record falls to 2 wins, 5 losses, 1 tie and now that the other midweek game scores
are known they stay in tenth place out of eleven in the Eastern Conference. Seattle improves
to 2 wins, 4 losses, 2 ties for eleventh in the twelve team West. Both teams had long CONCACAF
Champions League runs and had a number of games in hand but that has gradually been
squandered by both teams. Sounders are more used to starting slowly and getting hot in the
run up to the playoffs.

TFC's next game is Saturday night in New England against the Revolution.
