Halftime Entertainment: Tony the Pizza Pizza guy ran down the sideline to give out a pizza to a lucky section and row.
He had already passed the section when the PA guy announced the winning section but he didn't stop until he was out the
endzone exit. Nestle Drumsticks were given out the same idea even though the MC said the weather was probably too cold
to enjoy them. Their was a Sonnet insurance contest on the video board and the lucky contestant guessed the correct
cartoon—one in three chance—to win the prize. Two games in a row. I only remember one person losing all last season.
The video board continued entertaining us with footage of someone in an Easter Bunny costume at the BMO Training Centre
scaring TFC players by popping up behind them as an April Fools prank.

Attendance was announced as 28006 on this cold night. The afternoon looked mild but full winter-wear was required by the evening. I felt that were a lot more people announced than actually showed up for this game held on Good Friday. The two seats to the left and two to the right of me were empty and I saw a lot of empty seats across the field. Man of the Match (who is always a TFC player) was announced as Jozy Altidore which was an easy choice as he scored the first two goals for Toronto and played hard during his 77 minute appearance. Tosaint Ricketts returning from scoring the only goal in Spain last week during Canada's 1-0 win over New Zealand replaced him and scored an insurance goal in injury time. Real Salt Lake had two former TFC players starting tonight. Joao Plata was a forward for them in 2011 and 2012. Luis Silva played forward in 2012 and 2013. They almost combined for a goal at 50 minutes when Plata was fed a pass by Silva and rolled a 15 yard shot from the left that the sprawling goalie smothered. The TFC lineup had some changes tonight after having no game last weekend. There were TWO Canadian starters! Jonathan Osorio was at usual spot in midfield while Ashtone Morgan was one of the defenders playing to same run-up-the-wing style as Justin Morrow usually does. Two other Canadians were subbed in. Jay Chapman saw his first action of the season in the midfield from 58 minutes and Tosaint Ricketts replaced Jozy Altidore at 77 minutes. This was a popular decision last year as Ricketts came in as the defence was tiring and his speed led him to many chances and goals. There were two other Canadians subs who were not used. Jordan Hamilton at forward hasn't seen action in league play and midfielder Liam Fraser who is captain of TFC II but has an MLS contract made his first appearance on the TFC bench. I have watched him back through the years on their academy team in League 1 Ontario. With the TFC II home opener tomorrow being cancelled so the field won't get more chewed up, that may be another reason why Fraser was here for what would have been his MLS debut. Clint Irwin got his first start in goal this season. He really only had to make one outstanding save to make on the Silva to Plata play. It is pretty clear that the coaching staff are saving Alex Bono for the Tuesday night game here against Club America in CONCACAF Championship semi-final play. Ashtone Morgan played well. He often ended up well into the RSL half on the wing. He set up the second goal for Altidore by teeing up the ball. Nicolas Hasler was a starter. He has subbed into games but hasn't been a regular starter this season. Tonight he was in midfield again but found in the center more often than the wing and he had a few shot attempts including a set up by Osorio at 27 minutes which he put just high and wide of the top right corner of the net. Auro got the start on defence which isn't a sure thing. He goes by one name like a lot of Brazilians. That led to an awkward silence in the introduction of TFC players as the PA announcer always starts the intros with “I'll say the first name and you say the last”...with things like “Defender Drew...” and we yell “Moor”. But “Defender Auro...” couldn't be answered. It can also be said that defender Gregory van Der Wiel is not a sure starter but he was tonight. RSL's Nick Rimando is one of the best Penalty kick stoppers in the league. He dove to tip Giovinco's try at 14 minutes wide of the post. It wouldn't surprise me if he had studied Giovinco's previous Penalty kicks. Sure enough on the way home a friend was watching video of a scene in the opening game last year with Rimando stopping Giovinco on an identical low shot to the left corner like tonight. Giovinco stutter stepped and it weakened the speed and power of the shot. Altidore also aimed for the same side but put his shot higher and harder and Rimando couldn't get to it. I was confused a few times wondering where Rimando was because he was wearing a white kit that looked too similar to the RSL outfield players. Referee Allen Chapman game out six Yellow cards in the game (four for TFC) with half being for timewasting and complaining like kicking the ball away after a whistle or argueing a call. Altidore and Giovinco picked up Yellow cards in the same 34 minute mark with Giovinco's for complaining about the call on Altidore and pointing to where he took an uncalled arm to the ribs a moment or so earlier. It's not the first time he's had discipline problems. RSL had started the season with 1 win, 1 loss, and 1 tie with their victory against New York Red Bulls at home two weekends ago 1-0 on an early Penalty kick with NYRB resting players for CCL play and various commentators mentioning that NYRB could have won except for Rimando's great goaltending. Although RSL didn't have many chances the entire game tonight, they were only one goal from salvaging a tie after their goal at 81 minutes. TFC win their first 'MLS' game this season after starting with two losses and no goals scored until tonight. I felt the goal at 45 minutes to take a two goal lead into halftime was very important to continue the momentum over into the intermission. Fans missed the 70 minute Viking clap but maybe that's a short-lived fad that the supporter groups decided to stop. The second Blue Jays game of the season had started an hour earlier down the street but they were just leaving when I passed by to get onto the subway. It's nice to be in a better mood than them after TFC's poor results until the last three years. TFC's next home game was scheduled to be next Saturday night against DC United but has been rescheduled for the World Cup break in June so TFC can rest between their back to back midweek games against Club America in CONCACAF Championship semi-final play. Their next MLS game after that is Saturday April 14th away to Colorado Rapids—the team they beat in the round of 16 of the CCL. Next MLS home game is April 28th against Chicago Fire but maybe that will be moved too as it's scheduled between the CCL Final series.
