Match Recap: Toronto FC II vs. Charlotte Independence August 9, 2017 11:32PM EDT Adam Krueger A rollercoaster match at BMO Field saw Toronto FC II come away with a big point vs. the east leading Charlotte Independence on Wednesday night. The Reds had the majority of the chances in the opening half but couldn’t find the finishing touch. Mark Pais was tested a few times but was up to the task. Jordan Hamilton got the scoring started in the 49th minute. The ball made its way to Tsubasa Endoh who slipped it over to Hamilton. Hamilton took a solid first touch before slotting home his second goal for TFC II this season. The Kicks found their equalizer off a broken play. Joel Johnson threw a ball on goal from a tough angle and it found its way into the net pasPais. Charlotte went down to 10 men after an egregious tackle from Donnie Smith saw the defender receive a straight red card. Despite the advantage, Charlotte jumped out in front on a counter attack goal from James Siaj. The forward streaked in behind the Reds defence and tucked it home past Pais. The Reds waited until the final minute of stoppage time but Jordan Hamilton saved the day. Hamilton curled home a left footed strike to seal a point for the Young Reds in front energetic BMO Field crowd. The draw marks back-to-back matches where the Young Reds have taken points away from the team leading the eastern conference. Toronto FC II returns to action this weekend as they travel to Bethlehem to take on Steel FC. Kickoff is set for 5:00 at Goodman Stadium.
