Independence look to cement top spot in visit to Toronto

VAUGHAN, Ont. – Newly-minted Eastern Conference leaders the Charlotte Independence will try to match 
the longest undefeated streak in club history on Wednesday night when they visit a Toronto FC II side 
coming off a big win of its own at the Ontario Soccer Centre. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET.

Toronto FC II news and notes

•Current record: 4-12-5, 17pts

•Toronto earned a 1-0 victory against the Charleston Battery on Saturday evening to snap 
a three-game losing streak and move off the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

•Shaan Hundal scored the only goal of the game in the second half, the first this season for 
the Canada U20 international.

•TFC II goalkeeper Angelo Cavalluzzo recorded five saves against the Battery for his fifth shutout 
of the season, which puts him tied for 11th in the USL.

•Toronto’s eight total shutouts this season have surpassed the club’s totals for the 2015 
and 2016 season combined.

Charlotte Independence news and notes

•The Independence earned a 3-1 victory against Louisville City FC on Saturday to move into first 
place in the USL Eastern Conference.

•Enzo Martinez had a hat trick in the victory, the club’s second of the season, which moved the 
forward into a tie with Jorge Herrera for the team-lead with 12 goals this season.

•The victory moved the Independence’s undefeated streak to 11 games, one shy of its club-record 
streak of 12 set in the 2015 USL regular season.

•Charlotte’s 22 percent chance conversion rate is first in the USL, with the Independence having 
scored 40 goals on 102 shots on goal this season.
