Match Recap: Toronto FC II vs. Charleston Battery August 5, 2017 7:14PM EDT Adam Krueger Vaughan - A complete performance from Toronto FC II saw the Young Reds take down the first-place Charleston Battery on a windy Saturday Night at the Ontario Soccer Centre. Both teams battled with gusts of winds topping out at 30 km/h which meant most of the first half was played on the ground. The Reds came out of the gates with some fire, carrying most of the possession in the first half but couldn’t muster any dangerous scoring chances. ‘Keeper Angelo Cavalluzzo made a pair of massive stops near the end of the half to keep the Battery off the board and the score level at the break. The wind was still a major factor to begin the second half, but Tsubasa Endoh took advantage of it to spring Shaan Hundal on the break. Hundal out ran two Battery defenders and slotted home his first of the season to give the Reds the lead. The East-leading Battery had a flurry of chances as the game neared its end but the Reds held strong. A little bit of controversy at the end as the ball found its way into the back of the Reds net but a Battery attacked was called for a foul on Cavalluzzo. The win moves the Young Reds to 4-12-5 on the season. Next up for the Young Reds is a date with the Charlotte Independence at BMO Field on Wednesday night.
