Match Recap: Fury FC vs Toronto FC II By OttawaFuryFC.com, 07/29/17, 10:00PM EDT The Recap The dominant performance that Fury FC needed came Saturday night at TD Place in front of an energetic crowd of 6700+ with a 2-0 win against Toronto FC II. Fans were treated to a convincing win highlighted by a first half goal by Azake Luboyera who scored in his Fury FC debut and a second half wonder-strike from Sito from 40+ yards. Ottawa outshot Toronto 25-7 stretching their home unbeaten streak to six matches. With rested legs, Ottawa attacked the visitors from Toronto right from the start. Saturday was Ottawa’s first match in 14 days, while TFC II was facing their third opponent in nine days. Set pieces - by way of corner kicks - proved a major factor in the first half as Ottawa earned 10, threatening on several of them including their first chance of the match from Tucker Hume. Mark Pais, who denied Ottawa of any points when these two sides clashed July 8 in Toronto, proved strong in the TFC II goal again on Saturday making several clutch saves. Some fantastic movement and passing seemed to have the Toronto defence perplexed in the opening 45-minutes which created holes in the defence for Fury FC to take advantage of. The opening goal then came in dramatic fashion off another Gerardo Bruna corner as Ottawa’s newest signing Azake Luboyera headed home the game's first goal in his professional debut - a proud moment for the Ugandan under-20 international. The pace picked up once again at the end of the first half as Ottawa had three straight corners and laying lots of pressure on the Toronto defence. The Reds applied some late pressure to end the half on a strong note, but weren't able to break down the Fury FC defence. The second half saw Toronto come out strong, looking to equalize. The Red put Fury FC on their heels for the opening ten minutes before Fury FC rekindled their first half form. Callum Irving would go on to register his sixth shutout of the season and while the shot clock heavily favoured Ottawa, the Canadian International had to remain sharp and made a clutch save midway through the second half to deny Shaan Hundal of a sure goal and keeping Ottawa ahead 1-0. Dalglish went to his bench and all three substitutes had an impact on the game - none great than Sito. After a couple of chance after coming into the match, the club’s leading scorer added to his tally with a highlight-reel goal from distance. The Spaniard turned and struck a half-volley from 40+ yards and beat Pais who was well off his line. The spectacular effort gave Ottawa the 2-0 lead and cemented the three points for Fury FC. Carl Haworth and Steevan Dos Santos also could have extended the lead, but neither could beat Pais or, in the case of Haworth, beat the crossbar as the club’s all-time leader in games played saw his thundering effort from 25 yards denied by the woodwork. Ottawa will look to extended their home unbeaten streak to seven matches next Saturday (August 5) when they host Bethlehem Steel FC in a crucial match with both clubs battling for playoff positioning.
