First-place Charleston Battery and fourteenth-place Toronto FC II meet for the first time this season
Saturday night at MUSC Health Stadium. The Battery are in search of their ninth win, while TFC II
are looking for just their third and first on the road.

The Charleston Battery have held first place in the Eastern Conference for nine of the thirteen weeks
of the USL season. The Battery remain in first place heading into the match against Toronto FC II
despite settling for three draws in their last six matches, including their previous match against
FC Cincinnati.

Romario Williams and Forrest Lasso scored in the 2-2 draw at Nippert Stadium. Williams finished
a Ricky Garbanzo cross in the 63rd minute to bring his season goal total to 11, one behind
league-leader Dane Kelly. WIth the goal, Williams surpassed his 2016 goal total with 18 games left
to play.

Lasso scored his fifth league goal, seventh overall, ten minutes after Williams’ equalizer.
The 6-5 center back beat his marker to a Neveal Hackshaw flick-on and smashed the ball into the roof
of the net to put the Battery ahead. Cincinnati’s Andrew Wiedeman cancelled out Lasso’s goal
in the 80th minute and the two team split the points.

Williams and Lasso are first and second in scoring on the Battery roster and have accounted for
more than half of the team’s goals. Charleston have scored at least one goal in every match they’ve
played this season, including preseason, Carolina Challenge Cup, and US Open Cup. The Battery
and Real Monarchs SLC are the only two USL clubs to score a goal in every league match this season.

Toronto FC II enter Saturday’s match in fourteenth place in the USL Eastern Conference. The match
against the Battery is TFC II’s tenth on the road this season. TFC II have only scored five goals
total and two on the road. Toronto picked up their third win of the season in their last match,
defeating Orlando City B at home a week ago. Jordan Hamilton scored the game’s only goal,
Angelo Cavalluzzo earned the shutout.

Previous Meeting

The Charleston Battery and Toronto FC II met twice during the 2016 season, the Battery won both
matches. Romario Williams and Maikel Chang scored in Charleston’s 2-0 win at MUSC Health Stadium
last season, Odisnel Cooper earned the clean sheet in goal.
