Match Recap: Toronto FC II vs. Richmond Kickers May 24, 2017 2:56PM EDT Adam Krueger Vaughan – A ten-man Toronto FC II squad earned a hard-fought point in an afternoon affair at the Ontario Soccer Centre. A very quiet first half saw the best scoring chance go to the Kickers. Off a free kick, from the midfield, the ball landed on the head of a Kickers’ attacker in the box. His effort was handled nicely by keeper Mark Pais. Pais was making his first start with the Young Reds since April 1st. “It was great to get back out there with the boys and earn a hard fought point,” said the keeper in a post-game media scrum. The second half saw the majority of the game’s chances. The best opportunity for the Reds came in the 54th minute when winger Ryan Telfer made a great solo run into the box. The ball worked its way over to Shaan Hundal. However, Hundal sent his second touch shot just over the bar. The Reds went down a man on an Anthony Osorio red card in the 62nd minute. Osorio had just come on as a substitute before his sending off. TFC II held off a relentless Kickers’ attack. When the dust had settled the Kickers fired 19 total shots towards the Reds' net. "I thought the shape and the discipline and the work rate from the 10 players, including the goalkeeper to finish the game was very good," said head coach Jason Bent. Toronto FC II are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Cincinnati. Kick-off is set for 7:00 PM.
