Vaughan – Toronto FC II broke their scoring drought but could not hold on to the lead
in Friday night’s loss at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rowdies.

The Reds jumped out to the early lead on Luca Uccello’s first of the season. First team
loanee Sergio Camargo played a ball over the top of the Rowdies’ back line, which landed
perfectly on Uccello’s foot. Uccello had timed his run excellently and was 5 yards free
of the nearest Rowdies' defender. Uccello then rushed in and slipped the ball past
an onrushing Matt Pickens.

"Credit to Sergio [Camargo], he got his head up and made a third man run off the shoulder
of the defender, it was a perfect ball," said Uccello on the goal, "I knew I was alone
so all I had to do was break the corners."

The Rowdies came out with a flurry of chances to begin the second half. Angelo Cavalluzzo
came up with a pair of stops to keep the Rowdies off the board.

However, the Rowdies finally broke through on a 68th-minute goal from Joe Cole. Darwin Jones
played a cross into Cole who slotted home his 3rd of the season.

The Rowdies went ahead on substitute Martin Paterson’s goal in the 80th and doubled their
lead in the 82nd on a Darwin Jones goal. Joe Cole got the assist on Jones’ goal. The score
would remain 3-1 despite a final push from the Young Reds. The victory moved the Rowdies
into first place in the Eastern Conference.

When asked about his team's play, TFC II head coach Jason Bent remarked, "Ultimately when
you’re up 1-0, when you have the amount of chances we created, which was positive...you got
to get it to 2-0. We spoke about it at half-time we needed a second goal to try and win
this game...we didn't get it and they did."

The Young Reds return to action on Wednesday, May 24th when they take on the Richmond Kickers.
It is our first "School Day" game of the year. Kick-off is set for 12:00 PM.
