Match Recap: Toronto FC II at Louisville City FC April 29, 2017 11:44PM EDT Adam Krueger Louisville – No this is not the recap from last week the Young Reds played to their third consecutive 0-0 result on Saturday. In the process, the Reds extended its shutout streak to 310 minutes. The Reds held off a flurry of early chances from Lou City. Keeper Angelo Cavalluzzo was sharp and the back three of Mitch Taintor, Brandon Aubrey, and Oyvind Alseth were on their game early on. Cavalluzzo made a critical stop on Lou City midfielder Brian Ownby in the 19th. Ownby came streaking in 1-on-1 with Cavalluzzo but the Reds’ goalie made a kick save to sent Ownby’s shot over the bar. The beginning of the second half was very much like the first. Lou City controlled the play and came close to breaking the deadlock on a couple of occasions. However, Cavalluzzo and the backline held strong against the second place team in the eastern conference. TFC II head coach Jason Bent went to his bench in the 70th minute and brought on Trinidad and Tobago forward Aikim Andrews. Andrews provided a spark for the Reds going forward and the team generated a number of chances late into the match. The best two chances came from both Andrews and first team loanee Jordan Hamilton. Both players were in 1-on-1 with Lou City keeper Tim Dobrowolski. Dobrowolski got the better of the Reds forwards on both occasions. Deep into stoppage time, Lou City came close to stealing the three points. Off a corner, a City player flicked kick the ball onto goal. But, Cavalluzzo was positioned perfectly to frantically scoop up the ball off the Reds’ goal line. The Young Reds are back in action this Wednesday when they travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Riverhounds. Kick-off is slated for 7:00 PM.
