Fury FC hosts Battle of Ontario for inaugural USL home opener 

OTTAWA – Ottawa Fury FC plays host to Toronto FC II in its home opener at TD Place on Saturday night 
as the Battle of Ontario kicks off for the first time in the USL this season. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. ET.

Ottawa Fury FC news and notes

•Current record: 1-2-0, 3pts

•Ottawa earned its first victory in the USL last Saturday when Steevan Dos Santos’ first goal for the club 
earned a 1-0 win on the road against the Richmond Kickers.

•Dos Santos’ strike on the volley from the halfway line was one of the top finishes of the season so far 
in the USL, and lifted Fury FC to victory late on.

•Saturday’s game will mark Fury FC’s first home opener in the USL, but the club had remarkable success 
in the Premier Development League prior to moving into the pro ranks, winning its division four times 
in five seasons at the conclusion of its run.

•The contest with Toronto FC II will be the first competitive meeting between the two clubs in the 
professional ranks, with Ottawa having yet to meet Toronto’s MLS squad in the Voyageurs Cup.

•Current record: 1-2-1, 4pts

•Toronto is coming off a 0-0 draw with the Rochester Rhinos in its last outing that saw Angelo Cavalluzzo 
record his first shutout of the season.

•TFC II is winless in its last three outings after having earned a 1-0 win against Phoenix Rising FC 
in the club’s opening game of the season.

•Toronto announced this week it had signed former Montreal defender Brandon Onkony to a USL deal after 
the young defender made a positive impression in in the first four games of TFC II’s season.

•Ayo Akinola, who scored two goals in 10 games for TFC II last season, was named in the U.S. U17 squad 
for the CONCACAF U17 Championship in Panama which kicks off on Friday.
