Match Recap: Toronto FC II at Tampa Bay Rowdies April 1, 2017 10:12PM EDT Adam Krueger St. Petersburg – Toronto FC II fell to 1-1-0 on the season after a tough loss at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday evening. Tampa Bay got off to a torrid start. The veteran squad controlled much of the early play hovering around 70% possession. After a couple minutes of relentless pressure, the Rowdies found their breakthrough off a corner. Defender Damion Lowe got his head to a ball and sent it past an outstretched Mark Pais. Reds defender Lars Eckenrode would leave the match just 20 minutes in after an awkward collision in the box left the defender favouring his left leg. With the Reds temporarily down to 10 men, veteran forward Georgi Hristov got behind the Reds’ backline and buried his second of the season. Just two minutes later, Joe Cole sent a blast past Pais to make it 3-0 inside 22 minutes. That scoreline would remain into halftime. Early in the second half Pais came up huge with a couple of big stops to keep the Rowdies from adding to the lead. However, off a couple of bounces, substitute Deshorn Brown would tap home his first USL goal to make it 4-0. The best chance of the night for the Reds came when Tsubasa Endoh found the ball at his feet just to the left of the Rowdies net. However, Endoh sent his shot rolling across the goal-line before nicking off the far post and out. Toronto FC II is back in action on Tuesday when they head down the I-4 to battle it out with Orlando City B. Kick-off is set for 7:30.
