Tampa Bay and Toronto look to build on opening victories

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Rowdies and Toronto FC II will both look to add to their 
opening victories of the season when they square off on Saturday night at Al Lang Stadium. 
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.

•Tampa Bay Rowdies news and notes

•Current record: 1-0-0, 3pts

•The Tampa Bay Rowdies kicked off their inaugural season in the USL with a 1-0 victory 
against Orlando City B last Saturday night at Al Lang Stadium.


•A club-record crowd at Al Lang Stadium of 7,710 was in attendance for the contest 
as Georgi Hristov scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot.


•Hristov’s goal was his 35th for the Rowdies, with the Bulgarian the club’s leading 
goal-scorer in its modern era.


•Saturday’s win against Orlando marked the debut for the club of former Germany 
international Marcel Schöäfer, one of five players who made their first start for 
the club in the contest.


Toronto FC II news and notes

•Current record: 1-0-0, 3pts


•Toronto FC II took a 1-0 victory against Phoenix Rising FC last Saturday night 
as it spoiled the opening of the Phoenix Rising Soccer Complex in front of 6,890 fans.


•Ryan Telfer scored the only goal of the game in the eighth minute as the visitors 
got strong midfield performances by loanees Jay Chapman and Marky Delgado to earn 
the three points.


•Toronto begins a two-game swing through the state of Florida with Saturday’s game, 
which will see the side visit Orlando City B on Tuesday night at Orlando City Stadium.


•TFC II will host its home opener next Friday night when it welcomes 
the Rochester Rhinos to the Ontario Soccer Centre.
